How Giving God N5,000 Brought Me N25,000, Foodstuff— Pastor Ibiyeomie by Morbeta11(op): 6:45am On Jun 02, 2024
ICYMI: How giving God N5,000 brought me N25,000, foodstuff— Pastor Ibiyeomie

The presiding pastor of Salvation Ministries, David Ibiyeomie, has said that giving God his salary of N5000 in 1997 led to a chain of miracles.

The televangelist stated this in a video he posted on Instagram on May 28, 2024.

In the video, Ibiyeomie, who was standing behind the pulpit, claimed that his wife had asked him to give her his N5,000 salary, so she could go to the market.

He alleged that he later heard God saying he should give Him the money instead, and he obeyed.

He added that an hour after he ‘gave the N5,000 to God’, he got a gift of N25,000, a bag of rice, beans, and a crate of eggs from an unknown woman.

Recalling the incident, he said, “My wife told me she wanted to go to the market in 1997, and my salary was N5,000.”

“She said to me upstairs, ‘My husband, we have to go to the market’, and, I said to her, ‘I am coming’. But, I heard God say to me, ‘Give me the N5,000. That’s madness!

Nobody will give you money physically. Your wife said she wanted to go to the market, and that day, you earned your salary, with no other money elsewhere. And, God said, ‘Give me’? You need faith. You can hear God but without faith, it won’t produce.”

The Port Harcourt, Rivers State-based pastor added, Then, I took the N5,000 and dropped it as a sacrifice. In less than one hour, a woman said God spoke to her, that there was a pastor in town, that she should take N25000, pack a bag of rice, a bag of beans, a crate of eggs, everything in her kitchen, and give to that man of God. She drove down and dropped everything without even meeting me.”

Ibiyeomie added that the woman’s husband later gave her some money. He said, “The same day her husband— a very stingy man— who had never given her N100,000 before gave her N1m, after which he got a job in Abuja.”

Meanwhile, there have been diverse reactions to Ibiyeomie’s claims.

A social media user, clifofoboss, wrote, “Format in which you can take all that someone has.”

Zonaempire wrote, “The same God that told Pastor Sam Adeyemi to relocate to US, abi?”

Apparently in agreement with Ibiyeomie’s statement, temi. dayo_ and dj_joeteee responded, “Acting in faith”, and “Papa, I love you.”

On his part, Awojideamos stated, “Giving! Giving!! Giving!!! Can we discuss something else please?”

prettiesttiana asked, “Please How do I know it is the voice of God speaking to me?”

Ciponi4real wrote, “That was how God spoke to my friend in 2021, who gave his Peugeot 406 car to the church; (and) till today, I’m still picking and dropping him. Why his own is different is what I don’t know. I’m tired!”

Re: How Giving God N5,000 Brought Me N25,000, Foodstuff— Pastor Ibiyeomie by malali:
Pastor David Ibiyeomie's testimony of giving his entire salary to God and receiving miraculous returns is problematic and misleads believers into thinking that financial miracles can be bought. Such claims commercialize faith and exploit vulnerable congregants who may already be struggling financially.

Biblical Perspective on Giving:
The Bible teaches us about giving cheerfully and out of love, not with the expectation of receiving financial gain in return. In 2 Corinthians 9:7, it says, "Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver." This verse underscores the importance of the intention behind giving rather than the amount or the anticipated reward.

Exploiting Faith for Financial Gain:
Promoting the idea that God rewards monetary donations with financial windfalls undermines the true essence of Christian generosity. Jesus warned against such practices in Matthew 6:24, where he states, "No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money." This highlights the danger of intertwining faith with financial expectations.

A Call for Discernment:
Encouraging believers to give all they have, especially when they are already struggling, is irresponsible and exploitative. It’s crucial to teach the congregation discernment and a balanced approach to giving. As 1 Timothy 6:10 cautions, "For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs." This serves as a reminder that the pursuit of financial gain should never overshadow genuine faith and spiritual growth.

While giving is a vital part of Christian life, it should never be driven by promises of financial return. Pastors must lead by example, emphasizing the true biblical principles of generosity and service rather than perpetuating a prosperity gospel that preys on the financially vulnerable.

Pastor David Ibiyeomieis a fraud just like other pastors exploiting their vulnerable congregation.

As much as this feat is possible through faith, it becomes a gospel of Mammon if that's the centre of our gospel. I don't understand the emphasis now being devoted to giving money by pastors...they have agenda. Giving money to God and receiving reward is not a testament of spiritual growth ..that's not wht Jesus died for. Jesus desires we are one with him and bearing fruit...not fruit of money. But of spirit
