Just wondering the unnecessary flexing of muscles by Dolapo the Policewoman. You can't even enforce the nonsense anthem in the house of assembly, na citizens you wan dey disturb. Tell tinubu to mandate JAMB to make the national anthem the only question. |

Sincerely, I wish no court would entertain such,,, perhaps the school is yet to get in tune with the development. I wish people can reach out to that school owner and head teacher. Is there an official memo from the ministry of education to the school communicating the change in anthem? Then, like I said elsewhere on this issue, there is nothing wrong with entering the school, have a little chit chat with the owner/head and even personally address the kids "Dear children, we now have a new national anthem, let me teach you today and your teachers will continue subsequently........." That is more humane!!! We need more of acts of humanity in these trying times for God's sake. |

erad:I guess he was referring to the fact that jw don't sing the anthem. I love our anthems,,, But this period ehn, Nigerians deserve all the love they can get not adding to people's challenges. You walk out and see grown-ups, people's mothers and fathers begging to feed,,,tears do roll down my cheek. |

Inspirer1:Nobody can force anyone to sing the national anthem on a normal day. One reason all this noise seems unnecessary to me. Except you're in primary/secondary school, a military or paramilitary person, a youth corper, or someone under the employ of the government, I doubt you'll ever be in the position to sing the national anthem as a matter of necessity... But I may be wrong. |

erad:Yeah, you are right. I even look forward to when we want to play our WC qualifier that virtually all our players will keep mute expectedly, I doubt there has been any form of official communication to the school with respect to the new anthem. We all know schools follow instructions from the ministry to the letter. |

Inspirer1:Yes we need humanity but ignorance is no defence of the law - The National Anthem Act 2024 to be precise. The law has no emotion. During sentencing there may be clemency. A state does not have to deserve respect. This only exists in the boarding house and even there sef... |

BreconHills:so u are saying one can be forced to sing the national anthem when the person isn't in a official setting that require them to? Like they can just stop u on the road and ask u to sing it? |

Nigerians have a poor sense of humor and will never recognize sarcasm when one stares them right in the face. Make una try dey loosen up small. Take life a little less too serious. |

Unfortunately I have to side with "Obidients" on this one, the woman is a compound fool !!! I was just speaking with a lawyer on this and she pointed out that unless the old anthem has been outlawed, it can never be an offence to sing anything one wants. To think this Dolapo woman has probably been an officer for +15 years and she had the gall to beat her chest and post that crap on social media. If we were in a sane country she would lose her job for reporting nonsense and wasting police time. I am very disappointed and this is what too much kissing of ass causes. Anyway, I hope Tinubu and more importantly his asslickers, will stop giving us sane human beings reasons to side with "Obidients". |

BreconHills:But is there an official memo to that effect from the ministry conveying the change to the new anthem, God is my witness, someone just got to know about it yesterday, the person saw that meme of two ladies carrying another on stretcher with comments on why she was in such condition. I bet you if you travel down to some of our villages they may not be aware of the change. The news about the change is just spreading, not every Nigerian would be as updated as we are despite leaving in same city as us Furthermore, like you said with clemency, which is my main point about her, she could have easily done same by even capturing the moment on camera, enter the school and teach the kids, it'll be better than dragging those people to court, a win-win situation while everyone remains happy. |

BreconHills:Please can someone come and arrest me? I sang the NA as a paramilitary in training and interestingly I know both the old and the new NA (at least their first stanza each) but have vowed to never sing them again given the situation Nigeria has foisted on us. It will be exciting to be arraigned in court for refusing to sing (I will stand if required) and let's see how the law will be interpreted. I presently work for a corporate entity. |
| Re: Will The Police Arrest All Jehovah Witnesses In Nigeria? by Kilometres: 4:25pm On Jun 02, 2024 |
Inspirer1:She is not arresting them for not singing the National Anthem. She is arresting them for singing the old one deliberately. Anyone can choose not to sing it nobody will hold the school for not singing but encouraging the pupils to sing old one is the issue |
| Re: Will The Police Arrest All Jehovah Witnesses In Nigeria? by BreconHills(m): 4:30pm On Jun 02, 2024 |
tuzle:No sir, You cannot be forced to sing but you cannot hold the anthem in contempt or disrespect it. Fine is 100k or 2 months jail or both. |

hardbody:TBH I doubt anyone will be arrested. The "Arise o Compatriots too was much hated when it came out in 78 in fact for years NANS refused to sing it and they would sing the old ( now new ) one instead. People naturally resist change. |

BreconHills:I really did pray no arrest comes up. I wish they could just apply a more friendly approach to this, Police is our friend na, it will take time but people will eventually key in to it. I pray madam tempers justice with Mercy. |
