Return to Regionalism; Lagos say they won't be part of Western region .

Abeg o, this is funny to me o. First, the Lagos state government deported 350 Osun state indigines back to Osun for constituting nuisance and begging in Lagos . Now, the same Lagos has made it known to everyone that cared to listen that Lagos will not be part of Western region . Please, why is Lagos dis-associating herself from the other south west state ?

We understand that Lagos is the only big state in South west with massive IGR. But why is Lagos making it look like other Yoruba states are inferior to her?

I think with this declaration by Lagos that the state won't be part of Western region, it is now safe to say that Lagos is no longer a Yoruba land.

Between 1960 and 1966 Jan, There were 4 regions and Lagos. So, if Lagos says they don't want to be a part, well...

The thing is, if we are to revert to regionalism, i think there has to be a kind of referendum for people to say whether they as a state want to be a part of a new region or not or whether the states themselves want to come together as one region.

Regionalism had its issues in the first republic but, if we are to revert and we all agree to it, there are some things that will need to be amended and corrected so the issues that occurred then, would not repeat itself.

Lagos was not part of the Old Western Region. But note that this Lagos we are talking about was just Lagos Island, and a little part of present day Lagos Mainland Local Government. The rest of what makes today's Lagos State was part of the Old Western Region. If you are not intellectually lazy, you can ask Google.

Summarily, the present Lagos State is part of Western Region and mind you, Lagos is no more the capital, and Lagos is not in Igbo land or Hausa land. Anybody wey do anyhow will see anyhow, we already showed you a sample during the last governorship election
