Strike: Workers Close FCTA Gates

Workers of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), under the Joint Unions Action Committee (JUAC), shut the gates of the FCTA Secretariat on No. 1 Kapital Road, Area 11, Garki, Abuja, on Monday morning.

It was reported that at the earlier hour of today, the striking workers, following the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) directive, had locked and blocked the gates with vehicles. The premises also house FCT Minister Nyesom Wike and Agriculture and Food Security Minister Senator Abubakar Kyari.

God bless the labour unions.

Ajaero can redeem his image in my sight.

I'm never a fan of him for meddling into politics with obi, however, so far he's been excellent in his handling of this issue of minimum wage.

If he's really fighting for us, may he succeed but if he's doing all of this to get fat cheque from the government, may his unborn children suffer for it as Nigerian workers are presently suffering in hands of Tinubu government.

To increase subsidy, u don't stress urself. U just announced during speech on ur swearing in as a president. U increased price of everything without stress and masses trying to cope. National assembly, and VP got billions of naira to renovate and buy cars, without stress. Ur and ur VP spent 8.6billions within just few months for traveling, no stress. Now, to increase minimum wages, u now turned their representatives to errands boys and girls with different meetings upon meetings and offering them just 60k. What for? They broke down how they came up with the 615k, then u also should break down how u reached the 60k and let everyone hear.

Let be realistic..

Over #460,000 demand by NLC and TUC is outrageous, #60,000 proposed by FG is totally unacceptable and 100,000 is not good either, at least between 120,000 to 160,000 is okay compare to situation of things right now...
Re: Strike: FCTA Gates blocked, No Entry Allowed by Pogba12: 9:54am On Jun 03, 2024
Do you know that 60K proposed by Tinubu Led Government cannot buy one bag of 50kg rice?

My Question is, how long will this take for both parties to reach compromise?
24hrs? 48hrs? 1 week? 1 month? Abeg how long?
Re: Strike: FCTA Gates blocked, No Entry Allowed by SensualMan: 9:54am On Jun 03, 2024
Lol. Wike power no reach this one.

I hope Ojota protesters have all gone to work and not sitting at home?

Tinubu is our tribesman and we won't join the striking workers. They want to frustrate the efforts of the yoruba man as President.

Agbado, Ronu, I hope u ediots are not striking grin
Tinubu should just because of Agbado people add N500 to the 60k proposed minimum wage making it 60,500.

On your mandate we shall stand!

If Nigerian youths had any iota of courage and patriotism, we should be in total support of this industrial action by the Labour Unions and possibly even back it up with Nationwide protests.

Then again, this is Nigeria!

Re: Strike: FCTA Gates blocked, No Entry Allowed by Jokerman(m): 9:56am On Jun 03, 2024
Why is it so hard for FG to peg this minimum wage at 100k though??
Re: Strike: FCTA Gates blocked, No Entry Allowed by waice6571: 9:56am On Jun 03, 2024
It unfortunate that this is about the language to settle labour score... When are they going to start showing that that they care about the plight of the citizens?
Re: Strike: FCTA Gates blocked, No Entry Allowed by Ballotelle(m): 9:56am On Jun 03, 2024
increase in minimum wage is a lazy way of solving issues.. why not look into solving corruption, bring the price of electricity down, fuel price reduction.. if you do that our present salary would be enough

They will hijack the protest and use it to blackmail the strike action. Protest has failed long time ago.
