That rubbish of cbn saying NDIC is responsible for settlement of your money and then limited to 5m should be challenged. If the cbn licenses a bank, then enables them take deposit from customers under the supervisory role, the regulatory role of the cbn, the same cbn then withdraws the license stating the bank is not doing well, then the cbn ought to immediately payout the deposits to depositors, then recover its monies through the NDIC liquidating the assets of the bank. Simple!
The cbn cannot place the burden and inconvenience of the loss on innocent customers!
If I were a lawyer I will take this up as a class action suit, gather he customers, negotiate 40% of any judgement and then handle the case on a no win no fee basis. Lawyers have done this abroad and become billionaires, some lawyer won a class action suit of over $200b against cigarette companies in the US. Ned nwoko did the same and won money for Nigerian states and local governments from imf etc.

I think there is a slight miscommunication on the issue. NDIC is playing a dual role here. One it will pay up on deposits below a certain threshold. But also it will sell the assets of the bank and use the proceeds to pay any remaining creditors or deposit holders.

They will likely announce in the papers what you should do, or they may send an email. NDIC won't charge you.

100m trapped. This bank was distressed for years!!!! It took them 10months to pay out 1.6bn!... And they were paying it in weekly installments.

Several letters to CBN were ignored so CBN should stop feeling like the saviours of the banking industry, the bank should have been shut 10 years ago

Central Bank is responsible for all the monies in the bank, so if anything happens to your bank you can hold cbn responsible. Example if anything happens during your P.O.X transactions you will hold the bank responsible not P.O.X

I lost 130k to this bank at the way back when it was Societe generale at the oba akran branch ikeja, infact while I was there wailing a woman who deposited M1.8m naira of her customers money the previous friday and came back that Monday morning to withdraw her cash met the gates locked and started ripping her clothes off on the street, guess what? Not long after was when Bukola Saraki the owner of the bank contested and won to become the governor of kwara state, since then I have never put my dime in any bank that's not a tier 1 Nigerian bank, by the way I hope this is not a hatchet job by the cbn against Saraki in form of political vendetta
