Banking is the biggest ponzi scheme there is.

I knew it was a matter of "when" and not "if", the bank will collapse.

I hope they are ready to cope with the impending run on the bank by the customers. But I like the way CBN revoked the license with "immediate effect". CBN should take over the bank immediately, remove the current Management, dissolve the board and guarantee the continuity of the bank till a suitable buyer is found.

Sometimes because of perks associated with banking with them.


Top management persons in major control of finance in government tend to use these mushroom banks because of the reward systems they attach to entice people to use their banking services.

Eg. Even governors do this (like Ex governor of Benue Ortom) such bank’s approach them to do banking for the state in various sectors and in return they do deals to give back a particular percentage to the Governor.

This is not limited to governors, Permanent secretaries, directors of top companies etc…

Many use these banks because they get many advantages of banking without following due process.

at the end, it wouldn’t surprise me why many of them end up folding up.

Heritage bank is Société generale bank. It was rebranded. Heritage bank operates on SGB licence

customer money and account are well secure. All banks have initial deposit of 25billion Naira with cbn.

The 25billion cap is the minimum total asset of all licenced banks.
there is no 25 billion deposit with CBN by any DMB

no , virtual online banks like the Opay, are reliable. Though, not advisable to put much money

I lost 130k to this bank at the way back when it was Societe generale at the oba akran branch ikeja, infact while I was there wailing a woman who deposited M1.8m naira of her customers money the previous friday and came back that Monday morning to withdraw her cash met the gates locked and started ripping her clothes off on the street, guess what? Not long after was when Bukola Saraki the owner of the bank contested and won to become the governor of kwara state, since then I have never put my dime in any bank that's not a tier 1 Nigerian bank, by the way I hope this is not a hatchet job by the cbn against Saraki in form of political vendetta

It's sad.

I think their merger with Access bank went south

The NDIC will pay you. If you have a lot of money it may take longer than if you have less.
