I urge the govt not to accept any minimum wage above N50k.

The increase should be a flat raise of extra N20k per month for every govt employee regardless of their level.

They should also start removing and prosecuting ghost workers.

Otherwise, inflation could rise above 50%.

Everybody is talking about minimum wage, what of minimum effort or output? Minimum wage without corresponding effort to justify it is an accident.

Makes sense. Gradually increase for the economy to adjust.

The same way they should have staggered the fuel subsidy removal over 12 months.

You can control inflation better that way.

Why was this same energy not put in when fuel subsidy was removed without plans on ground to cushion the harsh effect?

Everyone is talking about inflation when we are facing hyperinflation. I am talking of something even Pres. Buhari in his peak of incompetence did not show us.

I pray Pres. Tinubu gets it right. If not, this suffer never start. God ehhhhhh!!!!!

politicians largely did. A governor whose party couldn't secure the next four year on office will wilfully employ many idlers before handing over just to cause problem for the opposition. Some are more deep rooted.

Government and labour should stop the cat and mouse game.

Solution is;

1. Categorise the minimum wage according to business type/turnover.

Subsistence businesses - (less than 2m pa.) 35k
nano and micro businesses (2m-10m pa) 65k
Small business (11m-50m pa) - 100k
Medium businesses (51m-100m pa) - 130k
Big businesses (101m-2b pa) - 180k
Large coporations (2.1b and above) 200k
Governments at all levels - 150k

Then ALL political office holders should earn minimum wage of government. If a state government pays less than approved minimum wage, all political office holders from that state should earn the minimum, including the representatives at national assembly

2. Peg customs exchange at N500 to $1 for 2 years. This would create stability and bring down prices immediately.

3. Invest heavily in security, especially drones to track attacks. This would allow people go back to farms.

4. All government & political office holders should purchase only locally assembled vehicles. No exemptions. Car purchase by government is a major source of drain on fx and very unproductive spending.

5. Tie income to taxes and assets. A major cause of our problems is that some people spend recklessly on unproductive things because there is no accountability, no tax commitments. People have assets of over N2bn but pay annual tax of less than N500k. How?

These are immediate steps that should be taken pending when other measures can come into play.

To be realistic can the average private nursery school in Benue or Osun afford to pay each of their teachers 500,000, and that one-man struggling business can afford to pay their cleaner 500,000k per month or you think minimum wage begins and ends at the public office, in fact, currently some states like Abia states ain't even generating enough to pay the 30k minimum wage,

if level one step one is 500k, how much will fresh graduates which usually start at level 8 receive, 3.5million monthly I guess, then a level 13/14 senior public servant will receive 13m monthly or do you intend to pay level one step one 500k but intend to pay level fourteen 600k?
