Very good. I love the sparmbott. It is banning the know-it-all guys who keep talking about actresses and box office returns. 2 crates of beer for the sparmbott!

Next time, stop spamming. This is a thread for movie reviews.

Speaking of movie reviews, imagine someone rating Godzilla x Kong: New Empire as 5.5/10 and then, rating Godzilla minus one as 9/10.

Furthermore, the someone now claimed that Godzilla minus one is an "absolute visual feast and has "cool CGI artistry".

This is why I say that I can't take nairaland seriously. How can you claim that a Godzilla that looks like it was made from paper mache, is an absolute visual feast? 9/10 for a boring movie with typical Japanese overacting and less screen time for the monster?

And then they will act like they are reasonable people on this thread. Thunder fire you and your nonsense review lol

Folks were on about, but we didn't like the last one, when in reality this was the most obvious trilogy flick ever, glad Sony duly obliged.

Oppenheimer is a solid 9/10 for me.
Celian Murphy never disappoints, he kept it good and natural.
The array of powerful casts in this movie is mind blowing, it's nice to see Emily blunt once again, i have missed seeing her face on my screen, she played her role so well it was if she was realistically living in it.

What more can i say about this movie that many of you haven't already known, i mean everything was just perfect from the casts to the story to the flashbacks to the picture to the communications etc.
They all did a good job.

America and the western world has so much history that tells you how great their nations are, so many many past heroes that have given their lives for their nations and it's no miracle that they are where they are today.

with their history and past heroes, it's much easier to make a movie or a series, all you need is go to a library or find a book.

The ministry of ungentlemanly warfare is a solid 7/10 for me.
Funny, playful, historical, action and i like the fact that they spoke pidgin and yoruba a lot in the movie.
Germany and it's Adolf Hitler truly did Europe dirty.
Thanks to the English brave men and a woman that put their lives on the line in seeing that the Americans and their military can cross over to Europe.

Iike i said when i was reviewing Oppenheimer, these western countries ain't great because you feel like they came to Africa to steal your resources, these people are great and where they are today because of their past heroes and the sacrifices they made for being patriotic, they already conquered the world and are already developed before they came to Africa.

This Fennell and Coppola you keep hyping like this. Apart from them earning some personal accolades, they've been jumping from flop to flop (apart from Lost in Translation). I thought being an A-lister relies on a actor's bank ability. Elordi might become an A-lister in the future, but presently, I don't think he has done enough to be regarded as one.

Make I sha use style laugh you small for your ban😁😁😁😁

Lol....So Africa didn't have heroes?

The same westerners who couldn't think of how to farm without slavery? Did your Nigerian ancestors need slaves to farm?

The westerners were so patriotic that they sent their citizens to numerous wars for flimsy reasons. So patriotic that numerous (4) American presidents have been assassinated and others attempted....

Thanks very much I decided to rewatch the mess of a movie because I wanted to see what people are seeing, I realised it was worse than before. The movie is a mess - the only good thing about the movie is the linear storytelling but the acting is bad, production design is even bad

I think you're mixing up A-list meaning only box office gross. A-list also means clout, pedigree, industry-wide respect & influenc, being in hot demand and a host of other things. Not just to sell movie tickets.
Or when Margot Robbie was delivering a string of flops back to back, was she regarded as a B-lister cos her movies didn't sell.

Lol, how many A-list actors are bankable in this present age? Forget that mirage. The only actors who are big and bankable are Tom Cruise, Leonardo DiCaprio, Dwayne Johnson and to a lesser extent Ryan Reynolds. The rest ALL hides behind franchise and IP films to drive box office.

I don taya for this argument sef since the only metric you're looking at is BOX OFFICE.

Stephen Spielberg has a string of back to back flops with his last two films. Does that make him a smaller director. Same as Ridley Scott, I can't remember the last time that man delivered a box office success. Is he now in the same league as a Chad Stahelski??

All what I've listed before, presently Elordi is a bigger sell than Bill Skarsgard. Maybe Bill might get a resurgence in the future o, but presently he's in a lower pecking order in comparison to Elordi.
NOSFERATU might do wonders for him tho.

Movies I watched last week
Gone Girl - 8/10: this movie will give you the energy to fear woman. The fact that this kind of manipulation actually happens in real life is crazy👀
Furiosa 10/10: the best movie of 2024 after Dune. The movie is fckin fast paced and fun, the adrenaline in the cinemas was so fckin infectious can't believe it's taking an L in the box office
Kingdom of the planet of the apes: 8/10 - it's a visual Chocolate and masterpiece - just boring at the second act but worth the watch in the end.
I went to Cannes some weeks ago and only watched 5 films 😭 wtf. But the movie that everyone will be talking about in the next few months is just 2 and 2 only
1. Kinds of kindness - 9/10: I've always loved Lanthimos absurdist movies like Dogtooth and The Killing of a Sacred Deer and it was by far the best absurdist movie he has ever created. This is far away from Poor Things and way bizarre, if you don't like Lanthimos steer clear when it comes out

2. Anora - 100000000/10: I won't be surprised if this wins Best Picture next year. It's an emotional movie and funny as hell sometimes.

3. megalopolis: hmmmmmmmm. That's all I can say. You can tell the movie was written by an old man. It was so messy and confusing normal audiences will shun it. But I can understand the art style and cinematography and what the man was going for

The rest of the movies I watched were boring as hell - thank God I sneaked in and didn't pay shit

The Yoruba and pidgin was simply HORRIBLE. I cringed each time I heard that deep voice in the background murdering the language. The least they could do was get a language coach for the actor or hire an actor of Nigerian origin who can speak pidgin and Yoruba with the right inflections.

Besides, you do know the movie is a fictionalisation of actual events? Apart from the names of the main characters and the settings of the events, close to 60% of what you see in that movie is the usual Hollywood sensationalization. You think only 5 people and a bunch of mercenaries could have achieved that feat alone?? Even 'Heron' is an Hollywood addition, likely a mixmash of different characters.

Almost all the men were killed shortly after Operation Postmaster. Read about it.
