She assumed office following the impeachment of then-governor Peter Obi. Her tenure was relatively short, as Peter Obi's impeachment was overturned, and he was reinstated as governor. Virginia Etiaba made history as Nigeria's first and, so far, only female governor.

We can't gamble. We have tried several of them, all to no avail. E.g Deziani Madueke, Turai Yaradua, Patience Jonathan, Patricia Ette, Stella Oduah, etc. The list is endless.

Are Nigeria's problems gender-based? Is that why Labour is on strike? What difference will a change in gender make? The problems are not gender-based. Women are no different. Just as we have seen in other offices, they equally engage in corruption.

Anyway, what you listed are elected offices, unlike those done by appointments, where they could be given preferential treatment. For elected offices, everyone is on equal footing. No discrimination. No law bars women from contesting. The last time a woman ran for the office of the president, how many women voted for her? Although, I don't support voting based on gender alone.
