Should political officeholders earn the same amount as civil servants? In my observation, it seems that since the advent of democracy, elected and appointed politicians enter the office and often tell the public how dire the financial situation is, usually blaming the previous administration for leaving empty coffers. They claim there is no money to pay workers' salaries or for infrastructure development, yet they receive their salaries and allowances on time. They tell us to tighten our belts while they loosen theirs. Why can't they earn the same amount as the nation's civil servants? Why do politicians have a special salary arrangement? Do you support the notion that henceforth, political officeholders should earn the same amount of money as the civil servants?

helinues:You actually made sense here, at least for once since I know you here . But that's the reason the Labour is agitating for pay increase to lessen or clean out corruption in the civil service completely. If you are paid well you won't engage in illicit acts. |
