The Gap is too much 60k to 496k

Let's see what Tinubu can offer

But I expect something higher than 100k not this mentioned 60k

N120 or no retreat
100k or whatever higher amount is agreed, will be inreflective cos inflation will swallow it up, infact currency like #50 and #100 might lose touch

Minimum wage increment where the govt is yet to address the hyperinflation plaguing the nation is counter productive, should FG grant 465k as minimum wage maybe #500 will be our lowest currency

Rubbish! They didn't even mention electricity tariff. Labour shouldn't try calling off the strike until a concrete agreement is reached on their demands; Minimum Wage and Electricity Tariff.

...let me guess 63,000...since FG keeps topping it with 3k. But how about the Private Sector? Who would ensure that they pay their staff well?

Exactly. That statement of the president being committed to a wage higher than 60k is a political statement. 61k is higher than 60k. Even N60,500 is higher than N60,000.

I say if na me, na inside strike we go take settle am. Because as strike dey go on their sense go Dey come back.
Make DM go meet ASUU to teach them how to negotiate while striking.

Private sector will ensure they continue to pay their staff the way they can. If staff of private sector decide not want to work for private sector for higher pay, they will be asked to look for jobs in government whilst others come to take tgeir olace in the private sector. That's what will happen.

But let say the agreement is being reached on 100k minimum wage. How would private sector implement such, someone that’s already earning 100k when minimum wage was 30k, does it mean there would be incrementhuh

Forget the headline. The organized labour didn't make that statement. Strike continues until they listen to the voice of the people.

Minimum wage is the least wage of the lowest rank or level of workforce of an organization. How much are private sectors paying their gardners, cleaners, gatemen/security? If minimum wage becomes 100k, it means workers on salary grade level earning 100k will start earning higher na.

If the strike is called off without any agreement, the organized labour will be digging their grave. 1. If amicable agreement is not reached, within this period, it will be difficult to embark on another strike, for reason being that the Fed govt will run to court for injunction. 2. The fed govt not easily yield to their demand knowing the strike is called off, and calling calling workers out again will be childish. My advice to the labour union is that, agreement could be reached within three days of intensive meeting since only the minimum wage is the only substantive issue of the collective bargaining. Don't call off the strike. Sustain the tempo. Meet day and night get what you want, then, call of the strike. If not, you will later realize govt is dribbling you. May l add that this is one of the strikes carried out by labour that has wider support of workers, if the labour mismanage it, their integrity will be at stake.

Is this not clear evidence of jazz?
How can this sort of ridiculous discrepancy exist in salaries from the same PUBLIC pot and there are not riots on the streets?
No be juju be that??

lailo:
We are too emotional and sentimental in this country. Y'all shouting bogus allocation for lawmakers, what is the percentage of their money in our national income to what workers are taking every month? You can't even compare the ratio. Political office holders throughout the country don't even make up to 3 percent of total government workers in the country. Only heavy workers wages can sink the country into unrecoverable debt and total collapse, politicians take home is too megre to achieve similar purpose. Criticise wisely fellow compatriots undecided
grandstar:
That is what Nigerians fail to understand. They prefer to die with emotions than live with facts.

I won't be surprised if a 10k increase in wages is more than the total of NASS budget.

My cousin angered me so much yesterday. He said NLC should also look into the hike in electricity tariff.

I have explained to him that the Discos and Gencos can not cover operational cost as the tariffs are not cost reflective. It does not cover their costs.

I said asked if the power providers can't cover their cost of operations, how will they provide electricity? From his silence, I knew I had gotten nowhere, despite him seemingly know
ing I spoke facts. They don't care.
If French common men had anything like this mindset the French revolution would never even come close to occurring!
