Jughead29:100k or whatever higher amount is agreed, will be inreflective cos inflation will swallow it up, infact currency like #50 and #100 might lose touch Minimum wage increment where the govt is yet to address the hyperinflation plaguing the nation is counter productive, should FG grant 465k as minimum wage maybe #500 will be our lowest currency |

Rubbish! They didn't even mention electricity tariff. Labour shouldn't try calling off the strike until a concrete agreement is reached on their demands; Minimum Wage and Electricity Tariff. |

Omalicious1:Private sector will ensure they continue to pay their staff the way they can. If staff of private sector decide not want to work for private sector for higher pay, they will be asked to look for jobs in government whilst others come to take tgeir olace in the private sector. That's what will happen. |

But let say the agreement is being reached on 100k minimum wage. How would private sector implement such, someone that’s already earning 100k when minimum wage was 30k, does it mean there would be increment ![]() |

Forget the headline. The organized labour didn't make that statement. Strike continues until they listen to the voice of the people. |

Simpubozz:Minimum wage is the least wage of the lowest rank or level of workforce of an organization. How much are private sectors paying their gardners, cleaners, gatemen/security? If minimum wage becomes 100k, it means workers on salary grade level earning 100k will start earning higher na. |

If the strike is called off without any agreement, the organized labour will be digging their grave. 1. If amicable agreement is not reached, within this period, it will be difficult to embark on another strike, for reason being that the Fed govt will run to court for injunction. 2. The fed govt not easily yield to their demand knowing the strike is called off, and calling calling workers out again will be childish. My advice to the labour union is that, agreement could be reached within three days of intensive meeting since only the minimum wage is the only substantive issue of the collective bargaining. Don't call off the strike. Sustain the tempo. Meet day and night get what you want, then, call of the strike. If not, you will later realize govt is dribbling you. May l add that this is one of the strikes carried out by labour that has wider support of workers, if the labour mismanage it, their integrity will be at stake. |
