Our people are too emotion-driven and hardly pay attention.

What the NLC is fighting for is totally different from what impacts majority of Nigerians.

When Nigerians are ready, they will come out to address the hardship they face, not minimum wage for less than 1% of the population.

...let me guess 63,000...since FG keeps topping it with 3k. But how about the Private Sector? Who would ensure that they pay their staff well?
Re: Nationwide Strike: FG, NLC Reach Agreement to suspend strike And Negotiate by mipeesoft(m): 8:14am On Jun 04, 2024
Las las mini wage will be 70k or a bit above 70k.
Re: Nationwide Strike: FG, NLC Reach Agreement to suspend strike And Negotiate by firearcher: 8:18am On Jun 04, 2024
Minimum wage that can lose its value the moment it is approved.
Raising amounts and not halting inflation is a waste of time.
Focus should be on policies and moves that will keep prices down or reduce it
Re: Nationwide Strike: FG, NLC Reach Agreement to suspend strike And Negotiate by Bimpe29(m): 8:28am On Jun 04, 2024
Most importantly, the inflation rate has to be looked into so as to enhance the purchasing power of the naira. However, the bottleneck around the reasonable national minimum wage must be holistically removed before calling off the strike.

This shows that the government can never be serious until they are held by the jugular. One day shutdown of the country and they realize this matter is serious.

Before now, come for meeting, No.
the only language thy understand is strike, very soon thy will politicalized it.

For the next one week,fg will be adding 2k every meeting day..that's 10k amounting to 70k...all governor's and fg already agreed on 70k prior to these useless tripatee committee meeting..that was why I asked quickly announced 70k

NO agreement to call off the strike, they only agreed to meet for the next 7 days to negotiate and get to a reasonable amount. Labour and Tuc only agreed to the negotiation period. Strike continues and will remain so till a new living wage is reached and signed.

not this kind of Labour under Ajaero led union. It’s fight to finish. And let me tell you here, Nlc will never accept 70k. The real negotiation will start from 100k upward. As it stands, NLC 1 FG 0. Let’s keep our fingers crossed
Hmm, if that's the case then I think Nigerians should prepare for another strike. They have about a week to prepare for the strike cos I have a feeling FG will not want to go beyond 100k mark. It won't even get to 100k in the first place. I have a feeling FG will offer 75k and stand by it.

U just read that it has been called off lol. It is you thinking they can sustain it for 48 hours that I blame.

NLC is a willing tool to this government. They are really serious about any strike. My pain is that a lot of you don't see what goes on underground even when it is staring at you in the eyes. You don't pay attention, you don't notice anything....
Hmmmmm it is well, it's not easy to be a leader I just pity this Ajaero guy.

Good luck to everyone involved.

It's a welcome development, but are we going to suffer the power outage, the stagnation of files in offices, the stalling of air flights and expectant fuel crises in the one week that they'd be meeting? If yes then we're going to be expecting another COVID 19 like lockdown for a week.Sh!t is not funny.

Let the strike continue while negotiations is still ongoing. As soon as an agreement is reached then they can call off the strike.
There is no sign of commitment from the federal government. Strike will surely continues until all the demands are meant. It’s for the best for Tinubu government to ascend the demands of Labour unions before things get out of hand. The real negotiation will start from 100k and above.

Strike has to stop. Nigerians are already going through a lot and the people NLC is fighting don't seem perturbed because they are well-to-do already.
Besides, what we should be striking about is the skyrocketing prices of all commodities in Nigeria which I believe unrealistic #494,000 minimum wage would have no positive effect over but instead add more woes to it. Come to think of it, the percentage of non government workers in this country is far greater than the public workers. So, a reasonable strike these days should be for our common good and not parochial.
Nevertheless, NLC has not gone beyond their lines by demanding pay rise particularly in the face of the current economic brouhaha as occasioned by the clueless present government but they should be considerate and be more broad in the fight for our common good.

May God bless the suffering poor masses in Nigeria 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
the new minimum wage bill will surely have huge effects on the economy cos’ the workers paid enough taxes and build the economy with their potentials.

I understand but at the same time the masses will be disappointed if they agree anything less than 100k. Then there was no need for strike in the first place.

As the golden rays of dawn delicately filter through my day and night window blinds, casting a warm embrace upon the room, I am reminded of the tranquil beauty of the waking world, and as twilight descends, the gentle hum of the city outside gradually fades into a serene symphony of crickets and whispers of the night, all while my window blinds gracefully shift, weaving a seamless tapestry between the realms of day and night, a silent witness to the ever-changing dance of light and shadow that orchestrates the passage of time within these walls.

Labour should not disappoint Nigerians. If they allow fg to play them this time, nobody will take them seriously again. Whatsoever is their demand, they should achieve it now or never. They level of compliance they got, they don't need to disappoint Nigerians because they might not really get it again.

The strike is needed to be honest because a few individuals actually do take the remaining ones for big fools. But Nepa or whatever they call themselves these days has no right to partake in the strike because they are part of the problem, if they want to down tools they should have left power on and not resume. Their participation by turning off power is detrimental to the strike; how do people store the supposed stock of food they managed to buy when there's no power to stock them as well as do other things. Labour is supposed to do this with wisdom abeg.
