Awolowo is the cause of all these problems called Minimum Wage

Those old enough or know history would remember that it was Awolowo that set Minimum Wage in the Western Region by doubling the daily paid labor and pay as you earn.

The problem Awolowo caused no go finish. Western Region Minimum Wage doubled that of Federal.

Then comes Abacha! He told workers to go to blazes and strike until they are hungry.

You know what? When there is no money, people will start trading by batter.

Inflation will fall and Naira will appreciate. Dollar and Euro self no go see market.

You wan strike? A begi, strike and come back when you are hungry.

As for me, ai dey go back to my farm go grow food for batter grin

Do you think that workers will seek for a higher pay, if their monthly salaries would carter for their monthly needs?

For instance, a worker warning 30k bought a bag of rice for 30k as at 2019 and still earning 30k but can't afford the same bag of rice anymore this year.

A worker who used to spend 15k for monthly transportation to work is now spending 40k while still earning 30k as salary.

A worker who's expected to look clean and decent with their outfit wouldn't be able to afford electricity tariff anymore as there is hike in the bills.

But you want the workers to labour and be collecting peanuts while government officials steal millions and there's no inflation or damaged economy.

People are just unnecessarily wicked in Nigeria, Government workers are threatening fire and brimstone to crush Nigeria because they are advantageous over their counterparts working in the private sector, imagine unproductive government teachers that doesn't produce good results compare to the private school teachers will still be agitating for more, whereas the private school teachers live on crumbs.

Read the post again. You will thank Awo for his foresight and curse Abacha for resetting workers brain. Taming inflation was the silver lining.

Awo believed in livable wage, free education and healthcare.

Next time put on your thinking cap when you read about Awo

All the insults including "father" because you cannot read and understand? Even misled a couple of people. Your words expose your upbringing.

Awo was a pioneer of the implementation of minimum was which he doubled so that the common man can live reasonable well and educate their children.

People like you protested especially when he threatened to jail whoever kept their children out of school.

Do not distract us from the topic of Minimum Wage. Awo was the Pioneer.
