Knocks as Wike Orders Permanent Secretaries to Bow Before Tinubu: "This Joke Isn’t Funny"

FCT, Abuja - Nigerians have expressed mixed reactions following a viral video of the minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, asking the newly promoted permanent secretaries in his ministry to bow before President Bola Tinubu.

In the video, the minister called out the permanent secretaries to show appreciation to the president for allowing the FCT administration to appoint them as the first permanent secretaries in the ministries.

The incident happened at the commissioning of the expanded Outer Southern Expressway (OSEX) completed by the FCT administration.

Nyesom Wike will be the first FCT minister to constitute the FCT Civil Service Commission and the first minister to appoint permanent secretaries in Nigeria's history.

However, some Nigerians condemned the minister's action.

Bowing down is not bad, portraying isn't bad either if that'll help you keep your job, it only helps you cut down your pride and ego... I will only see it as a problem if I'm told to pray to a man. This i can't do... We all bow to different people every day as a mark of respect and loyalty... No big deal if it helps keep you in your employer's good book.

Life is all about perspective
Wike is a master strategist and a very smart man. It doesn’t cost us anything to bow as we bow to our superior almost everyday even though it doesn’t have to be physical, as long as you lower your ego and pride you will go farther than those who try to play hard.
Football players, musicians, politicians and many more bow to their fans, supporters so I don’t think it’s anything wrong.
