Nigeria democracy seems to be one of the most expensive in the world. There had been insinuations that the country may return to the old regional government going by the recent adoption of the old National Anthem. In my candid view, I don't see it's workability. Nigeria is a very complex society and some regions like the North will never accept it for reasons best known to you and me. If on the long run a bill for it's return is passed, do you think there can be a reversion? Just thinking loud. |

Those benefiting from federalism wouldn't allow it. |

It will be for the best interest of our people and japa will reduce. The current corrupt system has made the north lazy thinking that they're nothing without oil money from the south south. |

I would personally oppose regional government structure. Unless there is a clear provision to allow people to eventually move into which regions they would like to belong. For instance, the current South-south region is highly amorphous. You cannot reasonably leave it as a region where some are deliberately made a minority and expect peace. There must be a clear way of moving into another region if both people agree on the boundary adjustment. Even in the present Delta state alone, I know the wahala we undergo just to keep the state peaceful and united. Talk more about adding Bayelsa and others to Delta state inside one entity. |

Regionalism is not a magic wand... The country's problem is sincere and quality leadership/leaders. The problems won't just go away if regional government is adopted. Even regionalism has its own limitations and challenges! |

brain54:There's nothing in this world without challenges but regional is the best. Referendum should be in place for people to decide where they want to belong. |

Already too late for regional government. The best is to separate north from south. They are two deferent people. Look at every presidential election ? They have a way of voting without rational thinking |

| Re: Can Nigeria Return To Regional Government? by gidgiddy: 5:58pm On Jun 05, 2024 |
nikky5:Of course it can return to Regionalism, Gowon abolished the 4 Region's we used to have and replaced them with 12 states with just one military decree However, there are certain parts of Nigeria, such as the North, that will never allow Regionalism to return. When you read what the constitution says has to be done in other to allow Regionalism, you find out that it is mission impossible |

Since you started posting on this platform..this is your best post yet Now, can you adequately support BIAFRA? So that you can have your Oduduwa Republic? Instead we trade as partners and respect each other's boundaries. Abi? Can you dream of that?... Work towards it... ![]() EmperorCaesar: |

Stop the lamba... The relationship is TOXIC and it's best they separate. Let the SE and SW separate and form BIAFRA and Oduduwa Republic separately... Even a fool in NIGER republic knows that NIGERIA is a fraud.. Don't you want to reclaim ILORIN? raskymonojendor: |
