No, she was promoted based on papers she had written in the past. Backdating promotion is the norm in civil service.

Shut up! This woman taught me as far back as 2006 in EKSU during my pre-degree days, EKSU was known as UNAD then. And she was a Doctor (PhD) already. I'm even surprised that she hasn't gotten her professorship.

I knew when she crossed to UI, and I accosted her once when walking around the faculty of education in UI during my masters.

Though beautiful and young then, she is a veteran educationist. It wasn't until her husband became the governor and I heard that the governor's wife is an academia that I went to check who she was because I was curious, since I knew I had a female lecturer with the surname Oyebanji, and true to my suspicion, she is the one, the governor's wife!

So when ignorant people talk, it's to the dismay of those who have the original story. I am a witness like many others so stop bragging nonsense.

Imagine someone with a PhD already as far back as 2006 was just made an associate Professor in 2024 (backdated to 2022) and these bastard children of hate from the unproductive region are bearing their fangs and making a fuss out of it, to discredit the achievement because she's from the South West.

If not because of the notorious nature of UI delaying promotions unnecessarily until recently, this woman would have been a full Professor many years ago before her husband became governor, at least 2018/2019 if she had remained in EKSU or any other University in Nigeria.

It's not fishy, in academics promotion to professorial cadre is subject to external report. Because of the delay in getting report from external reviewers, the promotion will be effective from the date the applicant is due if they get positive external report.

Professor should be made on the basis academic output which should in some form of service so recognised.

In that same faculty, a particularly hardworking female lecturer died around March and her professorship was announced in July because she ought to have been promoted 2 years prior.

It happens a lot in UI that promotion is delayed for only God knows. In fact, two of my lecturers became professors in my 3rd year and it was backdated since everything is slow in the system.

They can be political to some extent too but trust me, professorship or associate professorship is not a joke in UI.

Your history is your personal business. By the way, since you knew her over 18 years ago, you should have been awarded honourary awards too. But you weren't becauseyou were only a citizen and she was a gov's wife. So she has better chances of getting what she wants than you and I.
