According to Mr Abdulrasaq, this year’s pilgrims consist of 45 state-sponsored persons, while five are self-sponsored.
90% of the pilgrims are state-sponsored by the Rivers State Government, each receiving $720, multiply by 45, that's is about N48m net. There are other costs not disclosed. This is not to understate the importance of fulfilling these religious exercise but this is a PDP Governor o, just before you blame APC.

It will be interesting to one day watch the debate on a law to regulate the use of tax payers money to subsidize pilgrimages for all the religions including pilgrimages by Yoruba in the diaspora to Ile Ife.

Is it not better such money is used for something else? Pilgrimage should be personal. The government has not finished the basic needs of Rivers citizens but sponsored an insignificant number of people on pilgrimage which adds no value to Rivers state economy.

Our greatest problem in this country is the Fulani-led North West. How can a small minority hold the rest of the country to ransom? I watch senate sessions sometimes and I see Northern politicians speaking arrogantly and boastfully and forcefully when their people's interest are at stake (especially on Fulani herdsmen), but Southern politicians chicken out when it comes to standing for their people against Northern interest.

I don't know about the details. But I think states have religious commissions.

some Northern politicians are selfish too like your own politicians, you said the truth, by my moniker you will know that I'm Yoruba. If I said the good things that happened to 9ja is Yaradua & GEJ, but some of your people will counter this. I know what is affecting us Yoruba, you know what is affecting your people, what year are we going to say enough is enough? Nobody wants to die like Ahmadu Bello,Muritala Ramat,Tunde,Tafawa Balewa, Fela, Ojukwu, Azikiwe, Abiola & her wife that was assassinated (deny from becoming president).
