Edward Ansah actually played for Leventis United of Ibadan for many years in the early 1980s before he moved to Iwuanyanwu Nationale.
At a time, he was the best goalkeeper in Nigeria.

There were many Ghanaian players that came to the Nigerian league at that time and some of them actually played for the Green Eagles of Nigeria e.g. Leotis Boateng, John Benson etc.
Ansah could not play for Nigeria because he had already played for a Ghana national team before he came to Nigeria.
There were some Nigerians that also played for Ghana e.g. the Kayode Brother (i.e. Dan Kayode and Ben Kayode) but they were born and grew up in Ghana).
Even Ibrahim Sunday, the first winner of African Footballer of The Year award (in 1970), played for Ghana but it is rumoured that his grand parents originally migrated from Nigeria to Ghana.

It seems you did not understand what I wrote. I never wrote that Ansah played for Nigeria or wanted to play for Nigeria. I wrote that some Ghanaians became upset that he was playing for a Nigerian club and they raised money to try and buy out his contract. This is something I witnessed myself.

Again, I never wrote that no Ghanaians played in Nigeria. I have personal friends that are Ghanaians but played for Nigerian clubsides in the 1970s and '80s.

If DNA was popular in like in the 80's and 90's a lot of women would have buried their head in shame.
I know a woman who gave her husband an illegitimate girl in those days, the girl is over 40 now. One day I asked my mum out of curiosity, why did girl resemble a runaway shoemaker (cobbler) on our street, my mum said I should mind my business because the mother-in-law is my mum's ally.
There is another case like that; I saw a teenage boy like 14 years, and I was asking after his father and the boy was just looking at me. This is because he doesn't really know the father due to this fact that he was a product of betrayal as his mother slept with her friend's husband and they kept it secret but one cannot rule out the striking resemblance which made me to ask the boy how his father was

No Ghanaian was upset that he was playing for Nigerian club! In fact during that time, most Ghanaian footballers wanted to play in Nigeria because the Ghanaian economy was very bad while Nigeria's economy was much better and flourishing.
That was an era when many Ghanaians were rushing to Nigeria for economic and business reasons. So how and which Ghanaians were upset about him playing for a Nigerian club? There many Ghanaian footballers who were playing in Nigeria at that time. You can ask Segun Odegbami and Christian Chuwkwu if you wish.
If they were not upset when he was playing in his best form for Leventis United in the early 1980s, how could they be upset when he was playing for Iwuanyanwu in the late 80s/early 90s when we was not even in his best form?
Where would they even get the money from (when their economy was very bad) to buy him out from a very lucrative contract at Iwuanyanwu Nationale?
