No need for more sitting and thinking abeg. After propping up states that have yet to show signs of maturing to the point of carrying their weight, I believe it is time to scrap many states and cut back the employment boat in government across the board. If Nigeria ends up with the former 12 states, it is better than having 36 states with more than half of them existing as crutches for others to bear abeg!

So, you see how Naira 62,000 is a joke as it does not even make up for the depreciation of the buying power of the current MW. To add to it, Naira 62,000 puts the workers below the international poverty line which is currently set at $2.15 per day. Imagine a country paying its workers salaries that put them below the poverty line. That is bound to multiply the poverty population of Nigeria to well over 160 million within a matter of weeks.

▶ Any amount less than $64.5 or Naira 94,893.69 is extreme poverty and should not even be considered of worth. It should be a non-starter.
▶ Any amount less than $68 or Naira 102000, which is the former minimum wage adjusted for the approximate 340% depreciation of Naira since February 2023, is pretty much not a raise but adjustment to match the old minimum wage. I suspect the recent increase of 300% for the Judiciary was such an adjustment made against the Naira depreciation level. So this Naira 120,000 or $68 point needs to be where Labor begins its negotiating for a new raise.
▶ At the federal level though, anything less than N250,000 should be rejected by federal workers.

FG can easily pay over 150k to its workers.

The Naira depreciated by at least 340% in value since February of 2023 causing the minimum wage formerly worth about $67.72 to depreciate significantly to just over $20.00 where it is today. Do you know what that means? it means that to get back to the buying power of their money as of February 2023, for example, the old minimum wage of Naira 30,000 would need to be boosted by at least 340% to bring it up to about Naira 102000 in today's money which is approximately a starting $68. This is all talking of the beginning point of the negotiations if the NLC is serious about in fact getting the minimum wage raised, and not merely adjusted for depreciation in the Naira value.

So, Naira 65,000 - Naira 68,000 is not OK.

That's the problem USD comparism,! What of if the Naira appreciated and inflation tamed? Then everyone is ok, that's what Labour should be fighting for! God bless

Remove Ekiti from ur mention, Ekiti might not be rich in infrastructure or development at such but when it comes to welfare of workers them they try. They don't owe salaries or pay in percentage. If fg adopt 70k to day n we have up to 10 states that pays it, I'm sure Ekiti will be one of them.
