EFCC on top of everything? I think the NPF is supposed to be in charge of cases like illegal mining? Okay...maybe somehow, it's a financial crime...but then, robbery is also a financial crime and EFCC won't go after armed robbers undecided

Gold smuggling out of Africa, mainly to the United Arab Emirates, has surged over the last decade, with hundreds of tonnes of gold worth tens of billions of dollars illegally leaving the continent every year, according to a report published on Thursday.

Analysis by Swissaid, an organisation that focuses on development aid and advocacy, found that a total of 435 tonnes of gold, mostly mined by small-scale miners and worth more than US$30 billion, was smuggled out of Africa in 2022.

Swissaid said the UAE was the main destination for Africa’s smuggled gold and took in 405 tonnes in 2022. Over the previous decade, UAE accepted more than 2,500 tonnes of smuggled gold with a total value of over US$115 billion, the organisation said.

I think it's rather an Economic crime which is still within the purview of the EFCC.

Yes the police can also do it because the police is the mother of all the other LEAs and has an encompassing mandate of all.

EFCC no fit go after armed rubber sha, cos that one na strictly police work.

The mineral resources in Kwara State is out of this world. Why everyone left their resources to face Niger Delta oil is a discuss for another. During NYSC Orientation camp at Yikpata that we entered forest I saw a lot. Shining pebbles in the form of marble and granite lying the forest floor. You don't need to dig they were just there in commercial quantity.
Nigeria is blessed with different mineral resources but we are focusing on oil because it belongs to the minorities of the south. If this oil were to belong to Fulanis by now everyone would have started bearing their family names.

F we need regional government, nigeria is over ripe for this, all state control your resources and security and bring some certain amount to the center,it's over due, nigeria is stupidly blessed with human and natural resources, but some few individuals just sit atop of it and squandering it with their cronies
Same looters says they can't pay their 4 drivers the suggested minimum wage
