Nigerian elites/leaders (in government and private sector) are jokers. You base the price of fuel, gas, food, other goods and services on exchange rate, but you don't want to consider exchange rate while determining minimum wage for workers who are the consumers. Isn't it ridiculous that a worker in Nigeria (call him gate man or cleaner or whatever), even after this so-called negotiation with the labor union, may still go home with less than 65k naira per month? This is about 50 dollars per month before tax. It means some workers in Nigeria may not have more than a dollar to live on per day. Anybody earning below $2usd per day is living below the poverty line - this is what UN says. Why is this not a point of discussion and negotiation? I don't think Labor should accept anything less than $100 equivalent in Naira as minimum wage. Even that amount is inhumane in a country where lawmakers, governors, ministers, etc buy 160-million-naira SUV for themselves with public money. Some have more than 1 SUV in their convoy, all bought with public funds. |

DaddyCoool:And the same government can't pay 140k/150k minimum wage to workers. I am sure our colonial masters would be laughing their ass out - and saying "see what they're doing to themselves".... Niggers! |
