Few weeks ago my dad told me he is HIV positive, when he told me I was disappointed but I made sure I didn't show it and I encouraged him... Him and my mother has been sick for a while and I certainly know he has transferred it to my mum.... My dad was very promiscuous when he was younger even after he married my mom he was still promiscuous. I am the only child and I have been footing the bills for their medical cares I am just 26 years old and I have spent so much and there is more spending still to come.... My father only told me, my mother is not aware of her health status all she thinks it's just a normal sickness happening to her. I have no one to talk to, I don't trust any friends because I believe when I tell them, they will certainly spread the news and you know the stigmatization against HIV patients, it's not good... I am frustrated, depressed and financially drained, sometimes I stay in my room and cry.... To avoid thinking, sometimes I just drink some alcohol... This issue has been in my heart for several weeks I just had to put it on Nairaland to ease my pain. My father just called me today that my mom has been admitted to the hospital, she was too weak to even walk.... Another spending and I am running out of cash, don't know what to do anymore. It wouldn't be this severe if they found out earlier, it's almost late. May God help me and my parents.

tell doctors to run HIV test on your Mom and Dad and register for free drugs. If you keep silent your mom will just die.

Is easy now in Nigeria don't kill yourself for nothing they can even live as long as God wishes for them, if you are in Lagos let them go to LUTH and register, the drugs are free after all the testing and all, in other states maybe the same with Government hospitals also i don't know

I have a friend that experienced this too some years back
the bitter truth is that if the sickness has changed from HIV to Aids they will both die eventually so learn how to live with it
it is better as you have not informed close ones to avoid stigmatisation of every form forget nobody cares o
you have to visit hospital check yourself and your siblings if you have to know their status as well so that you can know how to live with it and possible solution and hope
if your enemy is positive or your siblings pls do not infect others it is your cross to carry it may not be easy Hiv is not a death sentence but Aids is
my friend that experienced this visited hospital and checked others as well
His junior bro had it and die with the father and mother eventually because it has already entered their body before the check up
Now he is living well with his other siblings
he is their father and mother now because the family are not really supporting he is child of the world helping himself and they are doing well
I know this is pathetic but I cannot sugar coat to make you happy
you still have purpose in life avoid suicide o God will blame you if your enemy try it there is always hope and solution
As someone typed above if you believe in prayer and miracle try it but even Jesus said 'It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick' [b(Matthew 9:12). Jesus recognised that sick people need doctors. He did not condemn using doctors and 'earthly remedies'.

Inform your mom so that she can start her drug. It can easily be maintained if it has crossed to AIDS.

Thank you for bringing this up here. I'm a Pharmacist that works with an NGO taking care of HIV patients.
You don't have anything to worry about. Take your Dad and Mum to any General Hospital or Primary Health Center. Meet with any Health Professional like the Doctor, Pharmacist or Lab Scientist.
They will be doing some tests and then Drugs will be given to them.
HIV patients live a healthy and longer life now.

Good day nairalanders, thank God this site is a faceless forum... Few weeks ago my dad told me he is HIV positive, when he told me I was disappointed but I made sure I didn't show it and I encouraged him... Him and my mother has been sick for a while and I certainly know he has transferred it to my mum.... My dad was very promiscuous when he was younger even after he married my mom he was still promiscuous. I am the only child and I have been footing the bills for their medical cares I am just 26 years old and I have spent so much and there is more spending still to come.... My father only told me, my mother is not aware of her health status all she thinks it's just a normal sickness happening to her. I have no one to talk to, I don't trust any friends because I believe when I tell them, they will certainly spread the news and you know the stigmatization against HIV patients, it's not good... I am frustrated, depressed and financially drained, sometimes I stay in my room and cry.... To avoid thinking, sometimes I just drink some alcohol... This issue has been in my heart for several weeks I just had to put it on Nairaland to ease my pain. My father just called me today that my mom has been admitted to the hospital, she was too weak to even walk.... Another spending and I am running out of cash, don't know what to do anymore. It wouldn't be this severe if they found out earlier, it's almost late. May God help me and my parents.

Hey I want to encourage you, pls let them register and get to start taking meds , HIV isn't a death sentence, I know a couple who have lived with it for more than 10 years, pls let them get to start taking medications. Stay blessed. Don't get over worried
