Fire has destroyed a soap factory and plastic dumping ground at Amanato Street, Ugwuagba Obosi in Idemili Northampton Local Government Area of Anambra.

Mr Chukwudi Chiketa, Chief Fire Officer, Anambra Fire Service, confirmed this development to newsmen in Onitsha.

According to Chiketa; the Anambra Fire Service received a distress call at 1:40am about a fire outbreak in a mini soap factory and plastic waste ground at Amanato Street.

“The state firefighters and a fire truck were deployed immediately to the scene of the incident.

“They fought and contained the fire, and prevented it from hitting a four-storey building,” he said.

He said the cause of the fire was still unknown and no life was lost.

He said that the firemen departed the scene of the fire at 03:40 am.

He advised people to take precautions to prevent fire incidents.

No life was lost. Thank God. Fire is a known hazard when making soap.

The loss of goods and structures is very hurtful. I'm glad no life was lost and no further damage to other buildings around...

I thought soaps don’t buy. For example when there is a fire outbreak, the firefighters, mix soup and water.

That whole area will smell fresh for the next week or so😁

Maybe God decide to punish them for making fake Soap. Cause we no trust them. If they can make fake drugs and drinks, they will make fake Soap with pleasure.

Good to know that Anambra has temporarily stopped borrowing firetrucks from Delta to quench fire.

This sad, at the time we need more factories to employ people, a fire incident is destroying this one.
I hope the is insurance in place to help rebuild on time and resume production.
However I will advice Anambra government to investigate the remote cause of this fire incident to ascertain the cause and for future prevention.
