The Senate on Tuesday adjourned plenary session to July 2, 2024.

The development is to enable the lawmakers to participate in the activities marking the 2024 Democracy Day as well as its end of session break.

The Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, announced this during Tuesday’s plenary session.

The 10th National Assembly will be one year in office on Thursday, June 13.

Prior to the announcement, the Senate passed a total sum of N1.911 trillion as the 2024 statutory budget for the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC.

The Senate approved the budget after considering the report of its committee on NDDC during plenary.

Yes, people have mismanaged NDDC's money in the past, but that doesn't mean the commission doesn't make any significant impact.

My community has a smooth road with street lights today because of NDDC. Plus, every year, NDDC sponsors 200 young people across the 9 states in ND region to go overseas and further their education. Still, the commission has built school hostels, bridges and hospitals in the ND region.

The NDDC just needs the right people to run it. Mind you, that the budget was approved doesn't mean that the commission will get the whole money. They may end up getting 30 - 50% of that budget at the end of the year.

You must be one of the criminals benefiting from nddc. What do you even know about the agency. Do you know the type of contract inflation going on there. Do you know the number of projects paid fully for and never executed. People will just come online to talk rubbish. What are you really defending. Do you know how much people settle to get paid for work done in nddc. If they tell you the cost of those street lights will you believe it. Abeg shift go one side. When has nddc only got just 50% of budgetary allocation
