Pilgrimage is a social service, that’s the function of government to provide social services. I don’t agree with it but for a section of the population that is what they want from the government. Government exists to provide social services for 200+m people not to use half of the whole income to pay the salaries of 1.2m largely indolent civil servants .

The point still stands the output of the average Nigerian worker is only N150k a month. It is from output one is paid. If you have a business you cannot pay your staff more than your income from sales…so also a country cannot pay it’s workers more that the output of the country. Nigeria has been unproductive and entitled for too long, now the chickens have come home to roost. You are a minimum wage worker, you contribute little to the economy and you spend the rest of your time in church when you should be seeking ways to improve your self. All that nonsense go stop. Nobody will tell you to ask yourself why you are giving the little time you have to church and the small money you have to pastor so he can live large.

In a country where nass members are taken millions, ministers are taken millions, judges salary increased by 300% without job loss, why would someone in his right sense say paying about 100 thousand will lead to job loss without interrogating him that what those who earn millions monthly. Beside this, if you are a family of four please take 100 thousand naira to market and see if you can buy food that will sustain your family for a month without other expensive, that is the reasoning am taking about.

Y'all didn't think about that when you removed subsidy, devalued the naira, raised fees, raised import duty and increased electricity tariffs all at once.

Yes you can not compare percentage between private sector workers and government workers but government workers ability to afford commodities and services provided by the private sector also drives the economy…. Paying government workers a fair minimum wage will boost purchasing power of many Nigerians this will benefit the economy and private sector patronage….

Private sector are not mandated to pay the same wage as government as business owners negotiate directly with workers…. If all governors are able to pay themselves a harmonized humongous wage package then they have no reason not to pay a fair minimum wage in their states….

My issue is that NLC is only fighting for the Federal Worker and the resultant effect will bite on every worker. They should use their power to demand for a better government policy that eases the pains by either allowing more importation to enable us have more at a cheaper rate for example.

I am not against N60,000 for minimum wage IF all Nigeria politicians will be paid as civil servant. If these will not happen then N150 to N250 is acceptable for workers unless they have no conscience. How person with three children one take manage 60k for 30days. With transport, medicals, food, rent, school fees...etc how.

Go back to night school and learn basic economics, ask your teacher to explain inflation and possible causes. Can the struggling states even afford to pay such amount? Some.people just want to start something that rhey already know will fail.

If the people didn’t want pilgrimages they would reject govt spending money on pilgrimages. Just like you would reject schools if you don’t want schools. Disavow yourself of the mindset that you have a right to determine what is anybody’s priority service from government. It’s called tolerance. This is why the old national anthem is needed to ram home that tribe and tongues differ and stop looking at things as if everyone must share our views on life.

Gbajue emilokan government, how i wish that this gbajue government could be as prudent as when it comes to spending for beleaguered citizens, that they will also be prudent when it comes to spending for the political elites, but nay emilokan prefer spending more huge amounts to already rich cronies, while telling the beleaguered masses stories from the moonlight of aso-rock.

The problem at hand is more than "salary cannot buy bag of rice/beans".

The 'market' is simply waiting for any humongous pay rise and they too will increase the price of that 'bag of rice', then we are back to square one!

By the time traders increase the cost of that 'bag of rice' from 75k to 100k just because of a meagre increase in the minimum wage, na that time the same workers go know say den done enter one chance
