Yes, you are now getting it gradually on the issue of national anthem passage speed, this shows, Tinubu policies are ok and loved by the legislators. what finished Awolowo and MKO was simply because they make open Thier good plans and enemies of progress planned for Thier down fall. It's not secret, Tinubu is a confirmed city boy, if he throws missiles to a direction means he is working in another direction. So, The national anthem is the first step of the 3 major reforms of returning back everything undemocratic been handed over to us by the military constitution of 1999. Soon you will see another speedy passage of bills ... LG autonomy and 1960 constitution loading. So everyone will show Thier productive powers in Thier zones. On the subsidy and floating of naira, the guy hit the ground running as he promised during campaign, and for me, I love end results but not the pains of the processes. Just calm down. The master is on the wheel bro...
Bro stop dreaming nothing is changing. You are living an illusion really.

You forgot to mention Rear Admiral Alison Madueke who was fired by Abacha as Chief of Nawal staff when he said in the SMC that they should release MKO Abiola.
I have NO recollections of this version of his sacking because of his support for MKO Abiola and I'm just hearing this new version for the FIRST time ever.

What I remember full well is that it was widely reported in a section of the media that Rear Admiral Alison Madueke and Major-General Chris Ali were abruptly sacked or retired because of their involvement in illegal arms shipments which has now turned out to be false based on the final 2019 self-revelation of what happened. Kudos to Alison Madueke if he really did that because the Abacha military dictatorship from 1993 to 1997 was very ruthless and usually framed up and assasinated via bomb blasts or gun attacks [through the Al-Mustapha-led Strike Force which had Sergeant Barnabas Jabila Mshelia (aka Sergeant Rogers), Omenka, and others as members] those innocent military men and civilians they suspected of having sympathies for democratic forces or having radical opinions back in the 1990s.

I had to do a quick fact-check and got the evidence here from 2019 in Rear Admiral Alison Madueke's words below as published in the Sun and Vanguard newspapers.

“So, it is good to tell your story. The incident that led to our retirement; my fellow victim (Major-General Chris Alli, former Chief of Army Staff) is here. What was it? It is in this book.”

=>https://sunnewsonline.com/why-abacha-framed-me-up-alison-madueke/

Military dictatorships are the WORSE things that can ever happen to any country because they NOT only engage in relentless corruption but also undermine the military establishment by eliminating some of their colleagues to prevent coup d'etats and underfund certain branches of the military such as the Air force to minimized attacks on their dictatorships with air power. General Ibrahim Babangida did that very well by underfunding the Air force and Police while amassing millions of USD for themselves and close military and civilian buddies of theirs.

In hindsight isn't it not ironic that the same purveyors of June 12 struggle are the ones who encouraged mass rigging, electoral manipulation and blatant tribalism. Onanuga, Alake and co who were in the forefront of the struggle and doing the same nonsense of which the June 12 struggle was against. Honestly IBB saw far when he annulled the election, because now Nigeria is now firmly in bondage of criminals.
Abiola mentored Tinubu in criminality.

If Abiola had become president.

The country would have long divided since.

Babangida saw something we didn't see then.

1993 was indeed a tough year in Lagos especially. Like a war zone atimes and in some areas. I remember walking alone along Broad St one day with only Mobile Poiicemen in sight. I was a bit scared but needed to get to the bank where I had arranged with someone to get some cash. There was little or no food at home. No gas. Needed to buy coal or try Abacha stove. 😥

Terrible times indeed! We have liberty and the opportunity of free speech today because our people were resilient in the battle. God rest Chief Frank Kokoris soul in perfect peace. I'm happy to have met him once and had the privilege to listen to the inner workings of NADECO. Also late Chief Ezeife.

Glad that I'm still standing here today...

They stood for a yoruba man & wanted to make him president.

Today Igbos can't even vote in Lagos.😞
Victor Banjo, Wole Soyinka, Tai Solarin etc stood by Biafrans. Banjo and others were killed, Soyinka went to jail and later exile on that account.

Sadly, our world today is so different.

The North are almost always on the wrong side of Nigeria democracy

Why did babangida truncate the election, yet people are not calling him out enough
I have come to believe that even babangida was a puppet then. The people who were pulling the strings were in the shadows... One of which was Abacha..

Nice write up👍. I think Simbiat Abiola was Chief Abiola's first wife and Kudirat was his second wife.
You are right

Lagos was tensed in the 90s

I remembered when they chased us away from school and my eyes were tear gassed

I remembered stray bullet hitting someone beside me during june12 riot in Onipanu - Ikorodu road.

The jingo is still relevant today ...
No light, no tap water anymore, no jobs, high transport fare

Nice write-up. There is one name missing in the write-up. Col David Mark is supposed to feature in the write-up. He vehemently opposed handing over to MKO Abiola. He later benefitted from democracy by rising to be a senate president. Other officers of tbe NA such Dongoyaro and others deserved to be mention so that history will show the negative part played by them.

Yes she was,she died in November 1992,had it mean she didn't die she won't allow MKO to run the election.

Well the great Fela told us in his song that he was.
He was a friend of the military boys.
His personal green for power as against just getting deals like he did before from the military boys led to his death.
