There needs to be good oversight on buildings in the nation.
Investigations needs to happen whenever things like this occur and culpable persons prosecuted. If its the owner, builder, architect, site engineer e.t.c, they need to go before a judge.

What is the role of government regulatory agencies?
We can't just sit around and let buildings collapse right and centre

Some workers were still trapped in the rubble as at this evening. They have rushed one of the workers to Iyi enu hospital in ogidi but commissioner of health says they have to take the patient to FMC. How many Building collapse has happened outside Igbo land
Is a general issue not restricted to Igbos alone and besides as someone in the building profession, if I notice the client bought substandard rods or other materials for me to use in his project,
i don't waste a single seconds to reject them ,
if you insist I will use them , like for rods , I will increase the strength by if it is a Y4 reinforcement, i will change it to Y6 , for sandcrete blocks , I will make sure I apply weak concrete to all the hollow blocks ....

Inshort is better the Client goes for what I specified than trying to cut corners because I will equally cut corners in all the materials as well to achieve the same standard I have in mind....

The same client that begged a builder or contractor to use substandard materials will be the same Client that will ask why did the builder accept the materials when he knows they will fail.....
