However, June 12 is not something that is celebrated amongst us Igbos in the East, for two main reasons.

But the Yorubas rarely ever call out the Northerners over June 12th and the death of Abiola

Had it been Igbos that annulled June 12th, had it been under the custody of an Igbo man that MKO died, heavens would have fallen.

Exactly. I was old enough too. I believe I was in primary 4 or so, and I recall all the riots. All the ibos in my class had even disappeared before the election. After the election and annulment, I was still going to school till the school shut down. We always had to drive through the rioters, and they let people go once without any harm once you have a tree or any green plant branch fixed on your car.
