It is not cheap. Potatoes are perishable so the sellers need to sell as much as they can before it goes bad.

I've lived in the north briefly; those potatoes go bad within couple of days due to the hot weather in the north

Namaster:
Remove terrorism, religious extremism, banditry and fanatism and Northern Nigeria would have been a fine place to live.

But left the way it is, I wouldn't live there even if Manna was falling from heaven.
If you remove all those things
Then it will be like south 😂

Those things u listed is the reason things are the way the are

Re: Cost Of Living Is Still Relatively Cheap In The North, See #200 Food by ZekeYeager: 4:54pm On Jun 13, 2024
That's because standards of living generally are lower in the North than in the South and so costs will be lower as well. We pay more in the South because relatively speaking we can afford it.

The southern part of Nigeria especially South-south and Southeast are the greediest people in the world.
All our target is to cheat ourselves, arbitrarily increasing prices like moto we fail break.
Every time, the pure water producers hold meetings and increase price of pure water in Asaba, Delta, now a set of 10 bags of pure water is N3500, then the retailers sell one sachet for N50, which amount to N10,000 for that same set of 10 bags that they bought for N3500, criminals.. Greedy fools and we claim we are better than other regions.
The cheapest you can get that potato is N700 in Asaba, it is N50 each of those cuts and our cuts are smaller too
