I don't think it's a mistake it was intentional to get close to nigeria's highest political office holders so that his members can infiltrate govt and get contracts including political positions thereby getting huge sums in returns as offerings and tithes. I even heard he has established a political department in his church for redeem members who wants to go into politics.
