The berth is operated by Five Star Logistics Nigeria Limited while the tug boat belongs to Medlog, said to be the logistics aim of one of the multinational shipping lines.

On the reason for the sinking of the tug boat over a week ago, Vanguard gathered that there are conflicting reasons. While a dockworker said the crane hook which was to discharge the containers had fallen on the tug boat causing rapture that result in it taking in water rapidly; a staff of the Five Star Logistics said that the tug boat in its effort to berth the barge had rammed into the quay apron causing a rapture that resulted in the barge in taking water.
Wack journalism. Assuming the "rapture" took place once now, we would have concluded it's typographical error, but, the "rapture" came twice. grin cheesy

Nigeria is the most useless place to live. If you go other country's port, you will see a different thing there. In Nigeria,we joke with everything. We don't spend money on important things. Cock and bull stories everyday. Tug boat & Barge. They are probably old and outdated. No safety check at the start of each shift. We manage things. We allow ignoramuses to handle things which are meant for learned people.
We don't prioritize safety of lives and goods at all.
You go to that same Tin can,you see touts unloading someone car recklessly from a container.
Why use a tug boat to drag a barge? Did they consider the towing capacity? Ingnoramuses

If insured properly, just be smiling 😁
Not necessarily. You would have cause to smile if you, as one of those expecting items from those cargos, were completely in charge of your operation's logistics.

Just imagine you had perishables or seasonal goods targeted for high sales at the Salah period presently on in Nigeria, even when the best of insurance refunds you're capital, it might not be able to reimburse you for sales missed.

Same time if you were to catch a lawsuit for inflicting critical delay and damage on one of your items receivers via the loss of this sunken consignments.

Insurance claims can be trickish atimes. You when have to be more afraid in environments like Nigeria where regulation is lax and frankly no one gives a sh!t.
You would think you were in the clear because of those forms you signed and the promises they made until disaster hits and they start pulling out technicalities from their arses so as not to pay up.

If there’s no insurance, or if the insurance is either fake or under declared to beat customs duty, the goods have become wasted completely.

What a pity.

It's better to remain silent at times, most especially when you don't have anything to say.

I swear you can't dislike Tinubu, APC and their goons reach me, although I feel your pain but things like this shouldn't be coming out from a sane and educated person like you at all. How on earth can you blame the government for an incident like this bro? Dem say boat sink inside water and the next thing is for you to link it with the government, haba now.

If una wife go fvck una neighbor, I'm very sure you people will still blame Tinubu for it.

This is bad, very bad. Imagine importing goods from far away China only for it to sink in your country's port.
Thugbost sank, not the Barge.

Barge is a carrier while thugboat is like a towing boat... It's job is to tow the badge to loading port or discharge terminals... The thug is what sank not the barge as it can float on its own but can't move

It's a tug boat. It's not the ship that has the containers or it. Tug boat only pushes it to berth.
