I won’t have a problem if another government decides to dethrone me, says Emir Sanusi II

The Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, has clarified that he doesn’t care if another government decides to dethrone him again.

He stated this during an interview with Saturday Sun in Kano.

Sanusi said: “For me, even now that I am here, only God knows how long I will be here. I can die tomorrow. Another governor can come tomorrow and say that he has removed me, it doesn’t matter.”

According to him, he won’t have a problem if any government makes any ruling against him.

The problem he had was because the past government according to him “tampered with the whole Emirate”.

“But I am happy if he does not touch the emirate. I am happy that I will not leave a history that it was during my time that these 1000 years of history was destroyed.

“So, I am grateful to this government, grateful to this Assembly that they have corrected that, that we have the emirate restored to what it was and Insha’Allah that when I die or when I leave, the person who inherits will inherit what we had. It’s about the system, not about me or about any individual,” he stated.

Btw, when Ganduje created 5 emirates there were prominent kano indigenes who applauded the decision on the ground that it marked a return to the pre-fulani era.

Late Emir Ado Abdullahi Bayero is the longest serving emir in kano state. He spent 51 yrs on the throne. So d 1000 yrs they r talking about is a myth.

The Fulani jihad invasions of Kano and other parts of the North of Nigeria from areas around modern Mali, Niger Republic, Guinea, etc, were from the year 1803 so, the Fulah line of Emirs in Kano is roughly 221 years ago.

The Sarkis (Kings) of the Habe dynasty of the Hausas were in existence before the Fulani invasions and the dynasty lasted nearly 1000 years. That dynasty too also had some foreign ancestry but had integrated and become Kanawas or Kano indigenous folks.
