So how can we explain that there's hunger in the land to people outside the country; we really need an awakening that will rebuild our values as well as give us a sense of purpose and justice always angry angry angry angry

Again you don’t force such conversation. Let people be free to be who they choose to be and identify with, no big deal. That is the beauty of civilization.
The lame argument is that Igbo means forest in Yoruba language but that it is what it is! If you know, you know!!
Unexposed villager, how old are you please? 😂🤣
This kind of ignorance from someone using a smart phone is truly shocking, you're an utter disgrace and embarrassment to your kins and whoever spawned you to this earth! Fvcck!! The ignorance is too loud. 🤣

This cloth material is making a come back. I can't remember what it's called again.

My dad has lots of it in one big box at home. That's what they use to toast girls back in the 1970s. Anytime I am in naija, na to go raid the box be that. grin

Edit: it's called a damask.

That's a damask. Asooke is different.

But I see that people have started even combining both.

The only cloth I also wish to see is aso olona.

Did you know that if Oluyinka Olutoye was an American, he would garner about as much recognition as Ben Carson?

I'm so proud to be a Yoruba, I swear. Class, elegance, growth, success, grit, social, vibes, hospitality, and strength are what our story represents. Big ups to you, if you're a Yoruba. You're the only of your kind. Keep marching.

Some of the most successful Africans alive have our blood and roots; Adenuga, Soyinka, Awolowo, Ogunlesi, Fela, Sade Adu, Anthony Joshua, Isreal Adesanya, Akintola Williams, F. R. A Williams, Funke Akindele, Folorunsho Alakija, K.S.A, Ayinde Barrister, Wizkid... just inexhaustible list.

Let me not mention football, 2023 UCL semi final had Yorubas on 3 starters of the 4 teams; Alaba, Akanji, and Fikayo; 2024 final has Adeyemi,... Musiala, Saka, and so on. Other sports nko? Adesanya Isreal, A. Joshua, and that fastest girl alive say hi.

Did you know it's impossible to write/tell the history of Africa without recognizing our important role in about EVERY of its facet, from Oyo empire, to slavery, to richest woman in Africa, to one of richest cities in Africa, to the first subsaharan to receive a Noble prize, to a vanguard role in tech (Olugbenga Agboola and Tope Awotona)—it's an endless list.

Thing is I'm surprised how some Yoruba allow some things other people say get to them, unrealizing they're and have always had potentials to be bigger.

UI, Yabatech, OAU, first subsaharan Nobel Prize owner—chai, this education thing, leave am gve us(the cradle of west African education)—first stadium in Africa, first African TV station, first Nigerian club to win international competition, first professor in Nigeria, first teaching hospital in Nigeria, >½ of all Nigerian professors made in Yoruba land, tallest Nigerian building; inexhaustible list of Yorubas achievement.

Look, if you're a Yoruba, and you haven't thought about and walked the path of making yourself, your immediate environment better, then you're wrong! I make bold to say that.

Forget your environment or natural disposition, you could be anything with and make a thing off it—see Portable (3 years ago, he was absolutely a guy you might call urchin, today he's everywhere and progressing with his demeanor), see Tems (as cool as a dove, yet making money and impact off her talent regardless). Do something for yourself, you're a Yoruba, have you forgotten the line of blood your forefathers stem from? Greatness is in you. Countless of your Yoruba likes are found in US and UK government. Wake up, do something.

That you're a female isn't an excuse, we're arguably the tribe with most successful women in Africa, from Azizat Oshoala, Funke Akindele, Mo Abudu, Tems, Tiwa Savage, F. Alakija, to many of female bank CEOs of Yoruba origins, and so on. Nothing is limiting you, you're a Yoruba! No dey dull, legally! No slumber! It's like we need PR to remind our peeps how great we're and how it's only our starting point we are.

Damn, I just wanna make so much dough, be influential, marry a classy, beautiful, and educated Yoruba babe, attend these kind functions with her, and give this man a run for his swag(in my old age), as Omoluabi wey I be. grin cheesy
Yoruba wey no dey help each other, it's even as bad as within the family. Everything na show off, arrogance, competition. See Igbos and Hausas spread wealth within themselves but Yoruba own na envy and competition. "Na me better pass". I be Yoruba, so I know wetin I dey talk.

How many people have you helped? If you want good people around you, be good to the people around you.

The people around me are good to me. I'm kind in my own ways too. God bless Magician's soul.

You can say that again. And, oh, forget anything you hear about us online, it's all of Yoruba, not only Ijebu, that's hospitable. Some others are even hospitable to a fault. Those you see who slander and libel us, they come to our lands and rent and buy homes and places where they make money, and we don't dish them hate, we never have a reason to, we're bigger than that. It's probably envy that makes them hate us.
I had a good time in the south west all through my stay with the Yorubas but lot of you south west people are quick to join south easterners in insulting us northerners
