A historian has claimed that Jesus Christ was an Igbo man who was born and crucified in Owerri, Imo State. According to the historian, the real name of Jesus Christ was Mmanuelu which was corrupted to Emmanuel. He further claims that Jesus was crucified at Ugwu Ekwema. He also claims that the Iriji festival (New Yam" was a celebration to mark the crucifixion of our Lord Jesus Christ, Mmanuelu.
