Kenneth Okonkwo Hints At Dumping Labour Party For APC by Biodun556(op): 8:24pm On Jun 20, 2024
Former spokesperson for the Labour Party (LP) presidential campaign council during the 2023 election, Kenneth Okonkwo, has hinted at dumping the party.

“Any party that is not visibly committed to the welfare of Nigerians will most likely not see me there. I don’t rule out going back to anything because change is constant,” Okonkwo said in an interview with a news platform, Symfoni.

“My own labour party is not impressing me. Assuming they continue on this trajectory where they cannot even hold an acceptable national convention, then you’d tell me I’d be there?

“I was a spokesperson at the presidential level and I did not know that the Labour Party was having a convention. When I saw it on social media, I thought it was fake. They were rejected in Umuahia because it was a leprous convention.”

“Those people are clowns. It is the greatest joke I have ever seen in a political party and then you want to position yourself as a party of integrity. You cannot give what you don’t have.”
Okonkwo left the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2022, citing the adoption of a Muslim-Muslim ticket for the 2023 presidential election. A month later, he joined the LP.

The LP has been embroiled in a leadership tussle after Lamidi Apapa, deputy national chairman of the party (south), declared himself the acting national chairman in 2023.

The crisis worsened in 2024 when a national convention of the party in Anambra saw Julius Abure re-elected as chairman of the party amid opposition from a faction of the party, with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) saying it did not monitor the LP’s national convention.
The Board of Trustees (BoT) of the party described the convention that re-elected Abure as a charade, adding that Abure’s tenure was over as national chairman of Labour.

Abure has since been sacked by the court

Na so this hunger reach? FFK was the first to do it when he got wind of the "grand plan".

If you don't know Nigeria's politics, you'll think that the economic hardship will force people to abandon the APC, but no, it reinforces their resolve to survive at any cost, it squeezes them into a tight box where they'll beg for air or water to give you their votes

What a paradox!

I'm not surprised for as far as Tinubu is still on the ballot, he'll continue to buy key figures from other parties to weaken. Tinubu is a professional background work master, of all the people he's bought, e.g. Wike & G5, Reno, INEC chairman, etc. it's OBJ's newly bought loyalty (who supported P.O. in the 2023 elections) that shocked me to the bone. I think his focus right now is to breakdown Labour Party's structure, key influencers and supporters. Whoever gave him the idea that buying Wike and the G5 governors would weaken PDP's structure is an analyst.

Kenneth will not be the last, others who supports P.O. will follow. Gradually we'll begin to experience this happening.

This just tells about the average Nigerian, like most women, "we go where the money goes".

Who are the "they" that can't hold national convention?
Are you not part of the "they"??
Bunch of opportnist that thought PO will win the election so as to be parading themselves as heroes of democracy.

There are two things that you can't separate an average Nigerian from; hypocrisy and shamelessness.

Kenneth returning to the APC is his personal choice if true. However, a pig always going back to its vomit does not have any honour left.

So, is Peter Obi also a pig without honor for negotiating a return to PDP?

There's no tribe in the world that doesn't backbite. China has caught their own born citizen sharing info with U.S. CIA. So, anybody can be lured with money. As you are, if you're given 2billion just to say something in the public you'd to it.

Lol. An association of strange bed fellows

Obidiiots are mainly Igbos desperate for Igbo presidency, supported by ignorant and myopic non-Igbo youths, who have been brainwashed and made to believe that their destiny in life lies in the hands of a corrupt politician like Obi

Whoever packaged Obi for Nigerians deserves an award as the greatest hype man that ever walked the surface of this earth grin

No honour at all, Spit on him. Soludo was right about nzogbu nzogbu politics he referred them as but their people wanted to crucify him.

Tinubu should give him an instant appointment considering that he was with Tinubu until the Muslim Muslim Ticket issue

And you can't blame him
It was difficult for many to swallow especially after what bandits and Boko Haram did to Nigerians

Him joining labour party was to seek for higher position if they had won but now want to go back to Apc and beg for crumbs. They are not ready to noture any party patiently. If they can abandoned Apga formed by Ojukwu who they sing his praise, that speak volume. Nzogbu nzogbu politics can't take them anywhere, the better they know that. I trust Tinubu, they will set him up with his people by giving him a position that will require to tarnish the image of Obi and others. Since he is desperate. Apga has now be reduced from the regional party to anambra state party. Northerners formed pdp, south west formed AD and Tinubu was envisaging national height but some of the elders just wanted a regional party. Tinubu took some faction and it metaphors to AC later ACN by spreading to some state outside south west and he later formed coalition and now became president. That how to build a party not jumping from party to party.
