Sources close to the government disclosed that Governor Obaseki, in tandem with the state chairman of the PDP, has voiced apprehension regarding the mass exodus from the party during this critical period.

Allegations have surfaced suggesting that Governor Obaseki has assumed full control of the party machinery, neglecting governance responsibilities, thereby exacerbating internal rifts and contributing to the party's deteriorating state.

The state PDP chairman has openly accused the governor of prioritizing personal control over the party's affairs, which has allegedly led to an influx of insincere members seeking only to leverage their positions as Special Assistants or Senior Special Assistants. This influx, according to party sources, has become a significant nuisance and a drain on the party's and state resources.

Furthermore, the PDP in Edo State has expressed frustration at having to resort to renting crowds to bolster its public image, attributing this measure to the governor's alleged mismanagement and neglect of party interests.

In response to these developments, Governor Obaseki is reportedly set to convene an emergency meeting with his commissioners to devise strategies aimed at mitigating the crisis and restoring stability within the party.

The unfolding situation has sparked concerns about the future trajectory of the PDP in Edo State, with implications potentially extending beyond party lines into the broader political landscape.
