Completed but not working
Do you mean TECHNICALLY completed like the PH refinery since last year?
Just like Buhari technically defeated Boko Haram in December 2015, but terrorism and crime have worsened!

They are modular refineries (they are assembled on site and can be dismantled and relocated and their refining capacity is limited to a few derivatives of crude oil) but the likes of Warri and the new Dangote Refinery are able to produce all types of hydrocarbons from gasoline to diesel to even heavier derivatives.

If these smaller refineries exist, where are they getting crude oil? Even dangote refinery is unable to source crude oil locally and is importing from USA.
They are all using us to play ludo. Why is Dangote not importing crude oil from Angola?

Omoo , one refinary in Nigeria built a during the 70s dey cost this much, Woow, politicians are finished Nigeria, I can tell you for free those old refinary was built with nothing less than 30-70m dollars and they took almost half a billion dollar for it in the 70s o. These are the babagidas, the obasanjos and buharis administration.

The sad thing is 40 years later Buhari came back to run another scam. Baba say e no get moni before presidency oo. That is what they sold to us, oh he didn’t steal then. Same thing is gonna happen during Tinubu time, he will be so rich that he’s friends will be supper rich too. If obi had won, it’s definitely same ppl, he will loot sote some ppl wey fit die for am say na saint fit carry poison chop coz they will feel betrayed.

THEY ARE ALL THE SAME!

Corruption is our major challenge not refineries
Corruption and lack of political will and ambition.

Nigeria now has a total of nearly 1.3 million oil refinery capacity, which would place Nigeria in the top 20 oil refiners in the world.

Nigeria has a physical steel capacity of over 13 million tonnes (Ajaokuta, Delta Steel, Oshogbo, Plateau, Jos and African Natural Resources & Mines Kaduna steel plant, also known as ANRML. Yet, no steel plant is working due to gross corruption, greed, wickedness and incompetence.

Five petrochemical complexes operational in Nigeria (i. e., WRPC (Warri Refining and Petrochemical Company) , KRPC (Kaduna Refining and Petrochemical Company) and Indorama-Eleme Petrochemical Company, Dangote Petrochemical Plant and Edo Refinery and Petrochemical Company Limited (ERPC) )

Nigeria also has over four fertiliser plants: Edo Fertilizer Plant and Chemical Company, Dangote Fertilizer Plant, Indorama Fertilizer Plant—Phase II, and Notore Chemical Industries Plc (Notore), one of the leading fertiliser and agro-allied companies.

Nigeria has the physical capacity to generate 21,000 MW but, as of this day, can only generate 5000MW and distribute. 4000MW

I worked as an engineer for years, and one of the pillars of engineering design is to reuse and enhance existing infrastructures instead of building new ones.

Any country with the physical industrial capacity in Nigeria should focus on wide-scale industrial development and not waste resources begging for foreign investments, building roads to nowhere, or buying new private jets and SUVs.

I read but couldn't comprehend because prices of petroleum products keep rising daily above the reach of the Common Man.
That's because majority of them don't refine PMS

I know and have visited the two in Edo state and they refined Naphtan, Low Pour Fuel Oil and Diesel

Just so that you may know, Orient Petroleum Refinery was built by the Anambra State Government and commissioned by President Jonathan in 2012.
It ceased operation according to reliable sources in 2018 as a result of the flooding that ravaged the Aguleri part of the state and the communal clashes between the border communities of Anambra and Kogi State.

So you see Peter Obi has nothing to do with it's current state. Questions should be asked to the governments of Obiano and Soludo.

This is a good development. If we can bring our refineries alive things will change a bit in this nation, especially in the area of the cost of oil.

Out of your ten completed refineries only five are operational till date. But that’s not the catch. Out of twenty-five licensed modular refineries in your country, not a centilitre of (PMS) petrol has ever and will ever be produced because they’re all designed to produce (AGO) Diesel! The govt just pays lip service to the plight of the people, the petrol that all but controls the life of everyone in this nation is firmly in a death grip at the hands of the FG! When someone says Nigerians are one of the most overtasked & overtaxed people in the planet by their own govt, dullards in love with their chains or still eating 'papa thank sir' can never relate! cool
You're saying none of our refineries was designed to refine PMS?

Like, seriously?

Is it that they cannot refine PMS or the powers that be simply want them to stop at refining diesel?

I need to understand.
Re: Ten Completed Refineries In Nigeria And Their Production Capacity by Anatolia: 3:25pm On Jun 22, 2024
The problem of Nigeria is multilevel and multilayered corruption which causes money for developmental projects to be diverted with little remaining for the actual project. The status quo will remain unchanged as long as the people who are supposed to oversee the proper implementation of projects are benefiting.
