Powerbank Recommendations: Which Of These Powerbanks Should I Get? by OwoukoUrua(op):
Good day to all Nairalanders

Please I want to buy a new powerbank from Jumia and these are the ones that I have in mind. Please which brand/model would you recommend?

I'll appreciate reviews/recommendations from people that have had experiences with both brands.

Since you're limited to these 2 brands, go for item 1. The rest will frustrate you due to power I/o support.

So I decided to settle for the Remax RPP-623 and the Itel STAR 200P.

I've already taken delivery of the STAR 200P while the RPP-623 is still enroute.
Re: Powerbank Recommendations: Which Of These Powerbanks Should I Get? by OwoukoUrua(op): 5:42am On Jun 23, 2024
On arrival, the led display of the powerbank was at 75%.
However, I knew from experience that it was not calibrated.

I then proceeded to drain the powerbank by using it to charge my phone. It charged my phone approximately 1.5 times before going off (at 30something %).

I then proceeded to charge the powerbank with my 33W Xiaomi charger).
Started charging at 9:35pm, powerbank was fully charged at 5:02am.
That's 447 mins (7hrs, 27mins), approximately 450 mins (7hrs, 30mins).

Verdict: NOT FAST
However, it's significantly faster than the STAR 200 (with 10W charging) that takes 10hrs to charge.

I'll drop a review of the output speed (how long it takes to charge my phone) and endurance (how many times it charges my phone) in due time.

Design and build quality is SUPERB.
Seems less likely to swell.
However, the glossy area on the front is a magnet for scratches (even rough cloth will scratch it).

The powerbank is sleek with nice aesthetics.

The only thing I dislike about the powerbank is that the LED indicator displays "15W" irrespective of the input/output wattage unlike my Oraimo PowerBox 400 that used to display "fast" for 18W input/output.

For your sake, I'll drain my Redmi 18w and Baseus 20w and have them charged from 0-100% to know the time taken. Nonetheless, I don't think it can be less than 7 - 8hrs.

Cuz it supports 20w doesn't mean any higher rated charger will charge it at 20w. The charger must be able to support the 20w before your PB can get juice at 20w. Does the Redmi charger support 20w (5v x4A) output? If not, it'll only charge at 18w.

15w is fast charge too!

Good morning boss

The Itel STAR 200P maxes out at 15W (5V,3A) for both input and output, and my charger supports that.

Will get the Remax too.

Battery will bloat if you abuse the PB
I think Xiaomi 33w doesn't support 20w but 15w, 27w and 33w, hence, the reading is probably okay.

I hail you boss.

15w isn't bad for a 20,000mAh PB, besides, for you to be able to get the estimated time taken at a stretch, your light is stable.

So I finally got the chance to test the STAR 200P and I'm impressed.
This has to be the best Itel product I've used so far.
Re: Powerbank Recommendations: Which Of These Powerbanks Should I Get? by OwoukoUrua(op): 10:48pm On Jun 23, 2024
The powerbank charged my phone (a 2 year old 5000mAh Poco M4 Pro) from 0 - 100% in 2hrs, 2mins.
Did 20% in 25 minutes and 50% in 1hr.

The powerbank still had 74% charge left (i.e. 26% charge used). This suggests that the PB will charge my phone at least 3.5 times (assuming the PB's battery indicator is well calibrated). Well, I think that's impressive.

A major issue I had with my previous powerbank was battery display calibration but I think that won't be an issue with this PB as it dropped uniformly while discharging.

So,
Do I like the powerbank? YES
Do I recommend it? YES
Do I think It's worth the price? YES

I later used it to charge my button phone and the battery dropped to 70%.

I await the Remax RPP-623 tomorrow.

So I didn't take delivery of the Remax power bank as what was being delivered was different from what was advertised. I opted for the Itel Powerlite+1 instead.

Re: Powerbank Recommendations: Which Of These Powerbanks Should I Get? by OwoukoUrua(op): 11:42pm On Jul 02, 2024
My first impression of the Powerlite+ 1 was it's light weight and very compact design. I was a bit Sceptical about whether Itel can actually pack a 20000mAh into such a compact and light powerbank.

So after getting the Powerlite+ 1, I used it to charge my phone, completely draining the powerbank. It charged my phone ( a 2 year old 5000mAh Poco M4 Pro) I.25 times before dying.
It took 2 hrs, 5 minutes to charge from 0 - 100%.

I then proceeded to charge the powerbank.
Although I couldn't get a full charge at a stretch, my calculations indicates that it took 7 hrs, 57 minutes for a full charge, approx. 8 hrs.
Re: Powerbank Recommendations: Which Of These Powerbanks Should I Get? by OwoukoUrua(op): 11:52pm On Jul 02, 2024
In my opinion, the pros of the Powerlite+ 1 are:

1) Light weight, compact, and extremely portable.
2) If you're a stingy person that don't like sharing your powerbank
with people, then you'll like this powerbank as it has only one USB A
port, so no more "abeg make I follow plug" 😁
3) Nice build quality and aesthetics
4) The cord is a bit longer and thus more useful than the one that
came with the STAR 200P.
5) The battery indicators are bright enough.

I'm yet to test the endurance of the powerbank but I think I like it already.
And for the fact that I was able to get it from Jumia at the promo price of ₦13,500 makes it a steal.
