The Ogun State Police Command, on Monday, said a pregnant woman, Rahemat Lateef, who claimed to have been abducted by some unknown gunmen while going to the state hospital at Ijaiye, Abeokuta for child delivery, is a case of fake kidnap.

The spokesperson for the state police command, SP Omolola Odutola, disclosed this on her X handle on Monday.

Odutola said the woman having found out that she had suffered another miscarriage decided to fake her kidnap to avoid the wrath of her husband who was naturally expecting her to put to bed.

Mrs Lateef was said to have escaped to Kwara State and showed up back in Abeokuta with her father.

Hope the Women Affairs Ministry in Ogun State Investigate the matter and prosecute the ABUSIVE husband if it's true.

Anyone faking kidnapping should be treated as a kidnapper. We should not let this trend continue, otherwise, people may no longer known when genuine kidnap case occur. And that will inhibit rescue response.

I knew there's something wrong somewhere because Ogun is a very peaceful state and kidnapping is not rampant like other states. We only have a clueless governor. If truly she was kidnapped, it must be for ritual purpose which Ogun state is not known for. God bless Ogun and upcoming Ijebu state.

I don't know why any woman would be afraid to tell her husband that she miscarried, or does she have a track record of removing the baby to suite her lifestyle.

It's like you dont grasp the matter, for her to be afraid of her husband because she had a miscarriage which is not her fault shows her husband is a very crazy person. Why blame your wife for a miscarriage? Now that it has happened the second time the man will think that the wife is a witch. Although I may be wrong and not fully know all about the woman, it is not normal for you as a husband to incur wrath on your wife for having a miscarriage Also, she too is very silly for faking abduction.
