Tinubu the disaster promax. By the time he's done with Nigerians, those who supported and defended him will be hitting their heads on the wall regretting bitterly
Yeah, we're regretting bitterly but we're not hitting our heads against the walls. Lol

You see supermarkets business is a very risky business especially when you crash prices to match with retail stores around. Once you ain't racking in those volumes, you would shutdown in no time.
And the rent in Abuja is major factor in breakeven

Good one, we have enough investors in Nigeria to take over this but most of us will rather spend the whole day blaming Tinubu for this and not those steal our common patrimony and investing in Dubai Europe and the America's, if all the stolen wealth ends up in such investment within the shotes of this country we would had been the largest economy in African.

Shoprite still operates in major Abuja malls that have decent footfall

1) Jabi Lake Mall where it is the anchor tenant
2) Apo Mall,
3) Gateway Mall where it also the anchor tenant
4) Ceddi Plaza

The Wuse Zone 5 location near PDP Headquarter barely have any footfall, save for those who visit the work station, those who come to PDP and perhaps staff of nearby organisations like FIRS. Other than that, the location is awkward as it is not on a major highway and has no remarkable features or side attraction that will make nearby Zone 5 residents come there to shop instead of heading towards Sahad Stores.

As much as the article's aim was designed for maximum click baiting, it is important that majority of folks understand that this single outlet shutting down does not translate to Shoprite exiting Abuja as a whole.

Ya! another set of workers rendered jobless ...The impacts of this is that the more companies shut down, the higher the unemployment rate..Is our Govt even thinking at all of these implications at all!

Shoprite at Novare Mall, Sangotedo may soon shut down following the one in Abuja. The entire mall is now almost a ghost town just like others across Lagos.

It's a good one but target populated areas. What location are you looking at?

Warri.

But the question am asking is...... How do one come about it. Will i start with a mini(normal small roadside mamaput) restaurant or i will just gather money and start building the size of chicken republic/mr biggs type?

Depends on your pocket, but don't expect instant ROI cos it's not cheap to start big, cost of those equipments ain't smiling. In the long run it's profitable

Jonathan, Buhari, & now Tinubu.

I know how much i spend alone when I’m around …Water Juice everything they will deliver with multiple bikes if needed. Foodco foods can’t match ShopRite and their breads but due to convenience I settle for FoodCo. I am shocked ShopRite has not created an app, WhatsApp number and liase with lots of bikes on that axis.

I’ve noticed that some issues are based on how businesses are managed not necessarily the nation’s environment. I rent out of Nigeria and i don’t have owing tenants going 3+ yrs. Took over the management directly almost 2yrs now and I’ve been less stressed than having a useless manager that thinks he is doing you a favor. I am even thinking of a YouTube page so I can start advising people on how to reinvent their businesses
Please go ahead and educate people. Management of labor and resources is a desirable skill for everyone.

Many people now cook their food at home and jettison some unnecessary luxuries considering the current economic realities.
Today, I spoke to someone who relocated from UK to Naija to open a restaurant a year ago and he said he decided to close the restaurant yesterday due to low patronage.

He said before they used to give free soup with meals but when the cost of the soup ingredients alone was more than the cost of the meat, he resorted to charging N1000 for the soup alone and as most of his customers can not afford the N2000 for a plate of food, he had no choice but to close the business down as to do otherwise will mean running at a loss and Baba is quite prudent at cost cutting from my observations of his past businesses both in London and in Naija.

Imagine 5 tomatoes jumped from N200 to N2000 and Tinubu has not deemed it fit to declare a state of emergency huh??

That is the so-called builder of Lagos who said with glowing pride that he would build on disaster Buhari's legacy and some still went ahead and foolishly voted for him without giving it a slightest thought.
