Ordinarily, I don't like going into this issue of peace, problem but since the Chairman of the Committee has mentioned it. I will like to say a few things so that the record will be straight and correct.

Whatever situation we find ourselves today in this State, you all know the cause of it. Where on earth can tenure of a Local Government Chairman be elongated. You (Orji Uzor Kalu) were once a former Governor, was it tried in your time? Even those of you that are Senators here, even in your own states. Is it that the Constitution that governs Nigeria is different from the one that operates in Rivers State? Those are the very pertinent questions we should ask.

Why is it that whenever it comes to Rivers State, the law is always silent? Is it that there is somebody bigger than Nigeria? That is the question I want you to go with. As a matter of fact, I know everything that is happening. Yesterday, whilst they were aware you are here, there was an attempt to create heavy problem, infact, there was an attempt to blow up (dynamite) the Presidential Hotel because you people were there but this God that we serve it happened that the man who was supposed to blow it, it happened just few seconds gap and it blew his hands off.

The idea is when you are hearing State of Emergency, the idea is when they finish by the time you people are sitting tomorrow, the same person from this state who told you people not to come will now raise the issue of State of Emergency, and say after all Distinguished colleagues, when you people went to Rivers State, you saw what happened.

But you see when you are with God, even your own child, when you are planning evil, will go and tell somebody look that man is clean, my father is planning evil. That is what is keeping us in this state. I tell you, we know everything that is happening and you know it, everybody knows. We should be bold enough to look at the faces of people and tell them the truth.

I am not fighting anybody. If I am fighting, people will know that I am fighting, my pattern will change. What's we are doing so far is defending ourselves, we can't just fold our hands. It's only a tree that will be standing and someone will come and chop it off. It doesn't happen to a human being, if you know that danger is coming, you shift. So what we are doing is just to protect ourselves.

So Diistinguished Senator, I am not fighting anybody. Just that somebody thinks or some people think that they own life. I don't own life, the person who own life is God. What we are doing here is to serve the people of Rivers State because God has given us this opportunity, it doesn't matter the channel the opportunity came from, but the most important thing is God, and nobody takes the place of God in anything.

I can also say it here, in this Federal Republic of Nigeria, I don't think there is any Governor that can take 10% of what I have tolerated in this state. Nobody.... I am the only Governor that Local Government Chairman will abuse. I am the only Governor, let me not use unguarded words here if not, you know it, you all see it even on social media.

I take them in, what is the reason? because at the end of the day, people will not look at the fight, what will they look at? What did you achieve, and I know that all those things are distractions so I need to focus on the ball. Make sure that no matter how tight, no matter how difficult or challenging the sitiation is, i must deliver to the people of Rivers State.

That LGA chairman that insulted you openly was wrong and his conduct condemned by any decent person but Fubara like I said before, this problem you started was avoidable and unnecessary. Many of us are ready to stand against godfatherism but can not in good conscience see you as innocent.

Wike worked with the LGA chairmen and other stakeholders to make you governor. Just 2 months in office, you wanted to sack elected Chairmen and install people you say will be loyal to you because you want to build your “own structure”. JUST TWO MONTHS!. You were asked to at least wait till the end of their tenure and then conduct an election as it should happen. You started making trouble. Now, you deliberately refused to conduct election so that their tenure will run out and allow you appoint CTC and achieve your agenda of building your “own structure”.

Why the desperation to build your own structure? Why deliberately destroy the structure that made you governor and undermine all the people that worked to make you governor? Why do you think they sacrificed their ambitions and political careers for you to become governor? Why bite the fingers that fed you even when it’s totally uncalled for just 2 months in office? It’s the height of ingratitude if you ask me.
