Planting of plantains is better done between March and April so that it will be stable before the dry season sets in

Okay. Thank you so much.

Yeah sure, you can cultivate plantains anytime of the year. I only told you the time to plant it for best results is March/April

Farmers need to take a more meaningful approach to protecting their lives and livelihoods. https://x.com/i/status/1805170612219826525
▶ Plant weeds that are known to be poisonous to cattle(about 1 meter in width) all around the edge of your farm(length and breadth). Tell farmers in your communities to do the same. This way you all can create a no-cattle zone around your farms.
▶ Spread rumors throughout your local area of how weeds poisonous to livestock have been intentionally planted all around the area to deter cattle from eating up crops on farms. The information will help local livestock farmers protect their animals while also spreading the word about the danger the area poses to herders bringing cattle to forage in the area.
▶ Consider raising awareness in your communities of how they must boycott cattle and beef from these herders who don't seem to value their lives and livelihoods. A boycott will further deter herders from visiting the area altogether.
▶ Always document any issues and encounters with herders and their cattle. Collect video evidence, images of the suspected herders, and sample evidence. Post information on each encounter online. Additionally, distribute it to warn farmers all around your communities and area.

I have not found information on cattle-poisonous plants in Nigeria or Africa, which is why I included the link to give an idea of plants out here that are noted as dangerous to livestock over here. But I intend to continue searching around to find plants local to even Nigeria in the next couple of days or weeks. undecided

Someone once told me about a farmer who tried to pull this kind of stunt in Ogbomosho some years back and how the herders went back to kill him.

Where? When? Any link to the story or where exactly it supposedly happened? undecided

Many pesticides are equally poisonous to cattle. Have you equally heard tales of herders going back to kill farmers who use pesticides on their farms? undecided

I think most animals would walk away from plants that are not good for them, I mean the cows would be repelled.

Repelled by what exactly? The smell or the stench? What exactly? undecided

In the same way that humans are not repelled by plants that are poisonous to them, Cattle are not repelled by plants that are poisonous to them. And worse, they don't learn from experience like humans can, meaning that a cow is likely to eat the same poisonous plant if it is not killed by it the first time it encounters it. That is why herders try to find feeding grounds for their animals that are free from these weeds. undecided

Finding and planting local species of these Cattle-icidic weeds is a good idea to avoid introducing invasive species into these communities.

I will leave you to show your "I too Know" attitude here also. Hahahahhah!

See person wey never enter any farm dey lecture farmers here. Lol.... So, you don't get it that they read my previous post about you, and they decided to whine you a bit. Lol. grin

Kobojunkie is well known in the religious section as Mr. "Know it all" with crazy ideas about God. Lol. Go read his posts. You will always want to avoid him. He is also a master of posting irrelevant papers. Lol. He is posting papers written for Minnesota Climatic condition....he doesn't even know these plants he is showing you. Person wey never grow even ordinary corn behind his house. Lol... That's the person lecturing you on cattle poisoning. Lol. grin There was a time he started giving advice on health, saying MSG is very OK. He was quoting papers that say MSG is in some fruits... and therefore, Ajinomoto chemical is very good. Lol. I was shocked. Lol. He is extremely dangerous to NL. Please, don't let one "I too know" person who has not been a farmer for a day push you to kill yourself. One person told him someone tried that and died, and he is still arguing. I wrote that too in my last post about this dangerous man....but he wants to keep pushing it. Na you sabi if you follow this dangerous man. My advice is that you just stop engaging him at all costs. He should be avoided because he is a dangerous man to humanity.

It is very funny how Junkie who doesnt know seed varieties, has not bought seeds in his life, cannot even identify seeds if you give him multiple seeds, is the one making his voice so loud here. This guy is extremely dangerous. He is even telling you to apply pesticides on your crops....that will kill cattle... but he doesn't care about humans that will eat them. Lol. Someone who doesn't know active ingredients.....see eh! Nairaland will kill many people. Lol. You all better avoid this dangerous human. I have known him for some time now....he has attacked me several times, and I always resist him politely. Just ignore this dangerous weapon oooo. Person wey sabi zero about agric is lecturing farmers here to use pesticides to kill cattle. grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin

Link how? Did I tell you that it was covered by the news? It was because I mentioned it to an uncle of mine who lives in Ogbomosho that a farmer can poison his farm if Fulani herdsmen keep disturbing him that he now went on to tell me the story of how a farmer tried it and got killed by a reprisal attack just because some of their cows died.

And csn this uncle of yours come online from ogbomoso to verify this tale of yours? Or it is impossible for him to do so? undecided

Farmers use pesticides on their farms. Pesticides are said to be harmful to cows. And I have never heard of your particular tale since I have been paying attention to the cattle-herders-farmer issues in Nigeria.. undecided

I should ask him to open a Nairaland account because of you? Wait! I want to go and tell him. He can even travel down to your side to come and tell you about the particular tale so that you can add it to the ones you already have compiled.

The audacity of a person with zero experience in farming challenging farmers here. grin grin grin. This is what I am talking about. He is a real Junkie....Very dangerous to society. grin

He wants her to ask her uncle to come online on NL to argue it out with him. You see how dangerous this guy is.

Go read his posts on the religious section. You will be amazed how on earth someone like him was actually born. Lol.

Seriously...do.you.know that David Hundeyin mentioned him in one of his tweets. Even David noticed him.

Guys... keep entertaining yourselves with this moniker - a real junkie. grin

I don't make comments on threads like yours because you are funny yourself. Lol. But we need to stop getting ppl killed. By the way, the killer started from another thread but decided to promote his stupidity here, and it's good that farmers have done justice. But he doesn't give up easily on his stupid acts. He can still return. Lol. That's Junkie...I've known him for some time now.

So, you came online to ask what you should do. Lol. You are funny. I guess you have been told to make a heap, put cassava, soy, maize, and okra there. What's stopping you. Lol. Se una go just come online dey ask questions you are to sit down and make a good decision by yourself. Na we go suggest wetin you go plant? It's funny na.

For you to know that I laughed well at your thread. I checked you out. And I was shocked you had done pilots in poultry, but the end of all your poultry threads is the same. Like...no positive success. Lol. So, have you really checked yourself? Have you learned anything?

If you are diligent and you actually tried to correct your mistakes and showed them here how you corrected them, trust me, you will not be asking what to do. Yes, I am telling you the truth...because what you will do will emerge from the poultry's success. Naturally, a waste from an aspect of agric is the raw material for another aspect. And the raw material you get in poultry....no one should even tell you what to try next. It should come naturally.

So, go check yourself first because you will still start something else and finish with the same pattern. People who come online to ask for what they should do are not diligent.

Sorry bro...I don't make comments on your kind of thread, but if you take this post with a positive mindset, you will never regret it. If you decide to be aggressive, sorry oooo.....I don't make comments on your this kind of thread.

People are just writing ....do cassava here and there in many threads now. Lol. Very funny. Honestly....poultry farmers who migrated to crops understand my point. As in, you still dey ask wetin to do after doing poultry for over 4 years. Mehn! Check yourself.

So, this is my response to the bolded part of your post. If you don't still understand me very well....and you don't mind being told the truth (may not be what you want to do....may not be the answers you expect....may go entirely against the popular saying here...may put the hopes of cassava consultants and stem sellers in the mud), you should do the right thing. You know the right thing. And if you don't know...then...hmmm.

Good luck bro!
