Our salvation is sure if we remain in the truth but in the first century the first set of disciples back then were majorly born again.
What does it mean to be a born again Christian?
Jesus supposed to rule the earth for one thousand years with 144,000 Israelites but both the Israelites and Jews rejected him so this delayed the selection of Christ's corulers as the choosing was to be extended to the people of other nations. Christ's corulers can no longer stay to rule with him in Jerusalem (the supposed signt of God's earthly Kingdom) because the city was rejected for their lack of faith in Christ and killing of God's prophets {Matthew 21:43; 23:37-38} that is why Jesus told his first sets of disciples that he is going back to heaven to prepare a place where they will stay to rule with him! John 14:1-3
This set of humans can't go to heaven (a place designed for spirit beings) with human bodies {1Corinthans 15:50} for this reason they need to be transformed into spirits meaning they need another body {1Corinthans 15:44} this is what Jesus meant by the term "born again" John 3:3-5
This first set of humans will escape what the Bible refers to as the final test.
After the destruction of wicked people the earth will be renovated into paradise and for a thousand years Jesus will rule the earth from heaven with his corulers who has been transported there as spirit beings or angels {Luke 20:34-36} but immediately after Jesus' thousand years reign Satan will be let loose again.
Remember that imperfect humans has been redeemed through the blood of Jesus Christ but this time each person will stand on his or her own to defend his faith in God as a perfect human at that time there is nothing Jesus blood can do again because those living then would have become perfect so whatever each person chooses to do is to be accounted for.
Satan will try everything in his power to make people follow him sadly most people will still follow Satan then the wrath of God will consume both Satan and all those that followed him then God will declare everlasting life on those that survive the final test.
But what about those who has been taken to heaven as Christ's corulers?
Remember Satan can't reach these ones because by then he has no means of going back to heaven {Revelations 12:11-12} that's why the scriptures says those in heaven at that time are SAVED! Revelations 20:5-6
So when the first set of disciples use that word "SAVED" they are referring to the chance they have as Christ's corulers who have nothing to do with Satan after their earthly mission!
