At the time the coup happened, the Eastern region was easily the most peaceful region, and there was no good reason to kill anybody from the east. That coup happened basically because of the crisis in the south western region caused by the Awolowo and Akintola politics, and the seemingly biased actions of Balewa who favoured Akintola and had Awolowo imprisoned, who was loved by the majority. Those soldiers were sympathetic to Awolowo.

They even put Murtala on the N20 note, named buildings and Airports after him, just for being a successful coup plotter

But Murtala Mohammeds coup thatbeven killed you Military Governor of the Western Region, Lt Colonel Fajuyi and other leaders from other parts of the country, was not called "Hausa coup"

But Murtala Mohammed was honoured on the N20 note, had Airports and Highways named after him, just for being a murderous coup plotter
