Woman Dies After Jumping from Ekpan-Refinery Flyover in Delta State

A woman took her own life on Saturday morning by jumping from the Ekpan-Refinery flyover in Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State.

According to eyewitness accounts, the woman, whose identity remains unknown, mounted the flyover and, after a brief pause, plunged backwards to her death on the tarred road below. A video captured by passersby showed the woman inching towards the edge of the flyover, whose rails had been damaged, before taking the fatal leap.

Though the reasons behind the woman's decision to end her life remain unclear, it was gathered that she was a mother of three who had been struggling to provide for her family. In a reported confession to a neighbor the previous night, the woman said she was tired of begging and facing insults and rejection as she tried to feed herself and her children. She also expressed frustration at her inability to find even a manual job, with people calling her lazy without understanding the difficulties she was facing.

In a social media post accompanying the video, a witness expressed the view that "depression is real" and urged people to regularly check on their loved ones, especially during these trying times.

"Depression is a disease that is actually treatable, and we must never, ever succumb to it," the post stated. "No matter what is happening, it is only temporary. Where there's life, there is also hope, and that is one of the great mysteries of life."

After the woman's tragic fall, those present at the scene were heard in the video lamenting her actions. No official statement has been released to confirm the identity of the deceased or provide any further details about her family.

I checked online, to see if there's anyone I could even speak with, or thereabout. I called LUTH, LASG, and NG suicide hotlines, they're mostly switched off.
Later, I switched to listening to Cece Winans - Goodness of God (on replay), and praying in the Spirit.

Friends, please be nice to people, love genuinely, pray for them. Even if you don't have money, kindly reach out, let them share the love, warmth, and strength that you have. The strength of a chain is in it's links. One shall chase a thousand and two would put ten thousand to flight.

For about 6 years now, I'd been battling depression (not having anything to do with finances). I just would have appreciated if there's someone to talk with, and who'd sincerely listen. This past two weeks seem almost dark, but I thank God his love never fails, He's Emmanuel.

What is the essence of religious centres in our communities when they can't help their members?
Nigeria is one of the major religious country of the world but yet we have high percentage of people who don't help, they are good in helping wicked people into leadership positions.
Why can't people who are doing well not be able to contribute money for her to start a business?
During her burial a lot of people will be there with their fake care.
The reason why the black race is lacking behind is that we don't help one another.
Instead one to forfeit buying another high end luxury car, that person can use the money to help out.

Depression is a spirit. I will advise you that in your prayers you pray specifically against it. It wants to destroy you. Pray against it and find solutions against it. Me i use prayers, video games, etc. You're a winner 🏆.

And the sad thing is that those family and friends who couldn't do much to assist her or who mocked and probably told her that she was too lazy will still be the ones that will contribute the most to cater for her burial and also donate a "HUGE" sum to assist the children in furtherance of their life.........life is a mystery.

There's no confusion. Those who love life have things that give them joy or make them hopeful. When a person lacks those things, living becomes a burden and suicide is seen as an escape.
