Yes, you are correct. Things are hard,but sometimes you need to know some facts through reading or listening to news. Some of these useless governors are making us to believe that we should blame federal government for everything. Have we citizens beamed our searchlights on what exactly these state governors are doing with their allocations and that of local goverments from federal government ? We need to wake up and start to ask and tackle these governors,please.

The local government system has been decimated by governors. Most times, the problem with Nigeria doesn't come from the president as we all think but from the governors. Everyone blames the president but nobody cares about the governors who collection billions as allocation, security votes plus IGR and don't account for it. They're thieves.

Nigerias governmental structure is amusing.
If they agree to conduct a local government election, it is still those they appoint that will occupy those seats.
The one done in plateau state by the last administration is still fresh to me. Voting and collation were still ongoing while the results was announced.
So no one will want a fair election for the local government.
But we can not join it with national elections because most states has/created too many local governments.
The best is. To either scrap the local government and use the senatorial zones as the new local government, and senators as new administrators of the zones, or allow members of states house of assembly for each local government to elect among themselves who will be the focal person for their local government and serve as administrative heads.
Until people people who exercise a certain degree of power are given this role, they will always be at the mercy of their governors.

Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo state onces said " there's no need for local government chairman/chairperson in Nigeria" and he run his administration without LG chairmen.
He later conducted election for them last year.
I don't know if that aspect of govenornace should be scraped or not but many LG administration are so dormart in this country.

One vacuum is that there's no specific timeline for conducting LG elections like we have for governors and president in the constitution. This needs to be amended.

Amuwo Odofin , the Local government is located inside festac at 41 Road, this criminal enterprise collect tax from festac residence in hundreds of millions but if you go to FESTAC the roads are like Gaza war zone.

Decades ago, one Tinubu right hand man Ayo was made the chairman by Tinubu and this idiot was literally using cement and sand to fix roads. Once rain fall twice they start all over again.

Back then around 202 road/ FESTAC police station there was a bank there (Oceanic bank) currently Eko bank. In front of their bank there was a drum hole not potholes that was causing traffic and they fixed it overnight because the LG chairman Ayo refuses to give them the go ahead to fix that pothole for free o.

Two days later, Ayo sent his thugs at midnight to destroy the spot again because he was expecting hundreds of millions from state government for that particular pothole.

One characteristic common to these states without elected local government authorities: minute or no development goes on outside their state capitals, as their governors use a fraction of the federal allocations of the LGAs to build vainglory projects in the capital of the state, then pocket the remainder of the federal allocations.

Festac is an eyesore. Damn!. Especially that road from the Police station to Alakija. It is in total shambles.
