My car (Lexus 1s250 2009) consume water rapidly but there’s no leakage outside. It’s becoming so embarrassing topping up water. Somebody have an ideal what going on or what I can do ? Plz any Mechanic in the house that can help? Btw I live In Abuja Incase |

You should be using coolant for this vehicle at least mixed with water for this model of vehicle unless you have an abused vehicle 1 Like |

Also, did you notice the cooling fan coming on at certain temperature/driving distance? Or it has been bypassed? |

temizeee:I don’t know what you mean by abused vehicle. not used coolant for almost a year I can’t lie about that. I don’t see any leakage from the outside. I just don’t know why it consumed water rapidly |

Whogoodgood:If you don't see any form of leakage under the car, then the water could be leaking into your engine knw as head/top gasket failure. Check if there is water on your engine dipstick or there is oil in your coolant tank/radiator. Does the car smoke? |

temizeee:it didn’t do overheating. But the engine was cut off three times. The third time it made a cracking noise and it didn’t start not until I put water before the engine start and ever since then it been consuming water and I can’t find any leakage. Does these have some to do with gasket or head cyclinder or radiator. So many thoughts on my head 🤦🏻♂️ |

Something as simple as bad radiator cover can make your car to loose water if you are sure there's no leaks from radiator. Change the radiator cover and check again 3 Likes |

Then Ur top is probably faulty. Bring out Ur guage stick and check if the engine oil is mixed with water |

SpaceAngel:Drive a 2004 Big for Nothing ... been super great ...problem free. Few days ago ... same problem as OP ... car couldn't start ... checked ... low coolant. Refilled ... driving ., noticed steam coming out from front center of the hood ... smell of coolant. Figured hoses leaking ... or radiator leaking. Checked ... see no signs of leakage... thought radiator... checked price for new one. Had toward coolant last 3 days... a lot. Stumbled on this thread and above advice. Filled radiator ... drove to store..bought new pressure cap. Seen no steam since... been driving all day ... coolant level as it were this morning. Problem solved. Thanks ... saved me a million!.... don't dare ask ...million already donated to charity! |
