Today, Monday July 1st, 2024 in Ibadan, staff of Yale staged a violent protest against the company’s alleged refusal to distribute palliatives that were reportedly provided by the federal government some time ago. The unrest highlighted the growing frustration and desperation among the employees.

One of the protesters, speaking anonymously recounted the events leading up to the protest. According to the protester, the company had failed to deliver the promised palliatives, prompting the employees to take to the streets in anger.

In an attempt to quell the protest, Yale management called for support from the police and civil defense forces. The presence of law enforcement escalated tensions, leading to a violent confrontation. The situation took a tragic turn when police allegedly fired shots to disperse the protesters, resulting in at least one death and leaving another protester severely injured and hospitalized.

This is really heartbreaking, how can foreign company be doing this to nigerians in their own country.

From my investigation, black people in high positions in that company are the ones sabotaging everything and cheating workers, from HRM down to those engineers

Another life lost and soon to be forgotten by the world while his family are thrown into sadness. Why will these ogas be hiding palliatives ? They obviously want to share them off to family and friends or most likely sell them for profit meanwhile, these things were meant to subsidize feeding for their underpaid staff who need any help they can get. I learnt that the military, paramilitary and police were recently motivated by hugely increasing their salaries. Meanwhile lecturers have been agitating for time immemorial to no avail that a professor can not be able to buy Toyota Corolla 2006 with his 1 year salary. For those planning to revolt, government is waiting for you with this killing example

Why does the Nigerian police use life bullets on protesters. There are numerous ways of dispersing protesters without gravely harming anyone.

It's our police that escalated the situation to the loss of a life. Why even draw your gun against unarmed protesters? Even if they were aggressive, were they armed?
