When Nigeria attained independence in 1960, it was a federal state with three regions. These were the Eastern, Northern, and Western regions.

The Eastern Region was broken up into three States- East Central State, South Eastern State and Rivers State.

The Western Region was Broken into Midwestern Region, Western State and Lagos State

The Northern Region was broken into 6 States- Kano State, North Western State, North Central State, North Eastern State, Benue-Platue State and Kwara State

Present Day Reality...

Western Region became the whole Western Region of today and Midwest became Edo, Delta and Bayelsa states... That's 9 states

Eastern Region became the whole 5 states of Igbo land and Rivers, Cross River and Akwaibom states... That's 8 states.

So Old Western Region is still topping Old Eastern Region

The Etiti and Adada have to wait after a 6th state in the southeast is created where it's supposed to be located between Imo and Anambra States. That's natural justice.
Ebonyi, the 5th state in the southeast, was cut from Old Enugu State and Abia state.

Landmass does not determine states but resources, among which human resources rank highest. In Nigeria large states depend on the resources of smaller states inorder to survive, and smaller states are richer. If state are to depend completely on their resources, your large states will starve and collapse.

it has a role to play when it concerns political might and strength cos politics is a game of numbers, resources and self sustainability should be first thing to consider but apart from that, the focus should be on adding to what you already have from outside rather than splitting the small one you have, cos if Anioma is added to SE, the 9LGs population which is over 5million would count and increase the voting power of the South Eastern region.

The West has no problems with that. It's actually good to balance the majority seat power that the North has been dangling at the South. With that everything evens out. It's the North that will develop migraines over that.

All of you people of No Lefelendum no Biafla, you can't dictate Anioma as 6th state in the southeast zone for the people from the southeast, because of your thinking that Anioma in the southeast will be a booster for your Biafra war plans. There is a pattern that gave rise to the 5 states in the southeast
That pattern must be followed to get a 6th state in the southeast area.
Those talking about Ekiti State want to throw away the pattern of state creation in the southeast. Etiti is a most selfish proposal that has no antecedents to back it.

When your senator presented the bill in the floor of the house and it passed through first reading,I don't remember seeing this your ranting being sent as a memorandum to stop the bill.
