Unfortunately, the students will suffer this. The lecturers will take it as a holiday while receiving their salaries They should have expected this, once there's protest, the University will shutdown to control damages that may occur should the protest continue The country has power challenge. If the students are asked to pay higher fees for regular power supply , they will still protest. To maintain regular power with the current price of diesel is very expensive for an institution whose fees are less than $100. Imagine if ASUU should also go on strike |

Ekakamba:One university recently had their electricity bill jump four-fold because they're on band A. I believe it was probably uniben. Someone suggested them building their own power plant like doesn't cost millions of dollars with our current weak naira. |

Bishop4bella:True! Especially with the current price of diesel. They may also protest when asked to pay more fees for power. Anyways, with this indefinite closure of the university, most of the students will go back home to enjoy 24hours electricity |

victor175:Will the students be willing to pay more to commiserate with the current hike in diesel price? How much is UniBen school fees? Sometimes, people should be realistic. Asking for 24hour power supply is challenging, unless the budgets of the University is increased. Maybe ASUU will soon go on strike for this Meanwhile, the students can enjoy 24hour power supply at their respective homes |

Cmanforall:I'm not surprised that I had to check out the second page to see someone with common sense. Nairaland and Nigeria has gone to the dogs. Someone even claims that the students are paying for 24hrs power supply on top 60k per year school fees. |

I remember my days in UNIBEN, the school authority powers the whole hostel from 7 p.m to 7 a.m. after sometime, the reduced the time to 5 a.m and then 2 a.m. Then 12 a.m before i left UNIBEN. I weep for UNIBEN in particular and Nigeria at large. No improvement since then. |

allthingsgood:You are funny. May be you should do your research to have an idea of how much the government generates on a monthly basis via value added tax which all Nigerians pay through almost all commodities purchased on a daily basis. In 2023 alone, Nigeria generated over 3.6 trillion naira through VAT. CIT collection was about 4.9 trillion naira. What exactly were the monies used for? I'm not even taking consideration of duty tariffs, etc. You all shy away from holding your government accountable but you expect change to happen |

With all the Billions allocated to the School from Tetfund on research works.. What have dey been researching with tax payers money all these years without tangible results.. Lazy student, there's no comfort anywhere! They should have sued the university for breach of contract and demand refund of their utility fees! See where #nogreeforanybody has brought them? Delay in graduation #ThinkB4Action! |

I hail these students .... doing what university students do world wide .... bring about change. Students attend universities not to learn ... but innovate ... make improvements on the status quo and also in society. They are almost always in the forefront for change and these are no different from their peers worldwide. Was it not student protest that made it possible for Blacks to enter restaurants in the US? .... or brought about the end to the Vietnam War? ... or caused Communist China to allow more freedom to its citizens? Now here are our students trying to bring about change and some of us with our slave mentality are condemning them. And we wonder why our politicians don what they do while we sit and hope they do the right thing. This is 2024 ... half gone ...and a university is claiming 24/7 electricity is not possible. I just wonder where are the kidnappers when they are really needed.

U pay 50k and want constant electricity. Even private universities can't provide that. The 24 hours bills they pay, are they saying they are all under band A? Cos I don't understand. |
